Dave_C
Hello All, I have been a dormant member of this board for 7 years but I'm back now. I ordered and bought a new GT500 in Dec 07. It was an 08, Vapor Silver. Sold it after a couple of years and less than 5K miles since it just sat with a hefty payment. I'm getting back in. Sign the papers tomorrow and a car just like I had. 08 in Vapor Silver. I know there are newer cars out there, but I regretted selling mine so here's my chance. The car I've found doesn't have a scratch or ding and only has 19K miles. The car is on it's second owner if you don't count a collector car dealer in between. I'll be the third. The original owner had it for 5 years, 4 months and only put 3600 miles on it per Car Fax. The original owner also modified the car and I'd love to be able to talk to him to find out what has been done to the car. The lady that owns the car now said they mods where done prior to her buying the car almost 3 years ago. What I can see: The car has a supercharger upgrade to a 2.9 Whipple. This was the complete kit sold by Ford. M-6066-MSVT29C. It was supposedly installed at a Ford dealership. SLP Loudmouth exhaust aftermarket rear sway bar and shocks aftermarket rear end cover I suspect the clutch has been changed due to reduced pedal effort and shorter throw. The Whipple would have toasted a stock clutch in short order. With the rear cover change (Mag-Hytec) I wouldn't be surprised if it had a gear change. I have a friend that owns a small Ford dealership and he ran the VIN for me. No name on any service records. Only Ford records indicate a warranty visit for a clutch start switch issue and a computer reprogram that should correspond to the recalibration for the Whipple. Car still shows open recalls on airbag actuators. What would be the best way to locate to original owner, if possible? Thanks!
ShelbyTom
You may be able to contact the Shelby Registry and if it was registered they might be able to tell you. This information may be confidential. Not everyone wants to be found. Just my opinion. Good Luck!
Dave_C
Thanks. Got the car home a couple of hours ago!. Besides the upgraded supercharger kit, exhaust and rear end cover I found a bonus. It's got a Ford Performance m-18000-C strut and shock kit as well as an M-5490-B front/rear sway bar kit. Ford Lower springs too. The original owner put some time and money into this thing. Only thing it needs is a good detailing and set of tires. Michelin's on order at a buddy's tire store.
