It's great that folks are so anxious to sign up. I'm hopeful for a major turn of participants this year!

Hello again,

Just trying to plan my calendar. Is the track day on Thursday, June 1st? Spend the night in WV at the chosen hotel and then leave for Carlisle as a group on Friday? Thanks again.

Bruce

Bruce -

You are 100% correct. Track day is Thursday (6/1), stay the night at the host hotel in WV, then leave Friday morning (6/2) for the cruise to Carlisle.

Track registration will open shortly, and the overall event registration just a little bit after that.

Glad you will be joining us!

I'll be at Carlisle ... again, my 18th year in a row. Haven't missed one this century. ;)

You should try to join us at the track as well. Even if you don't participate in the HPDE, just to watch the cars 'at speed' is worth being there.....plus this year there will be a car show at the track and we will be serving lunch! That evening we have dinner at the host hotel/casino, then a special surprise planned before the evening is over. The next day you can join in the cruise to Carlisle.

Really, by skipping the festivities in West Virginia, you are missing half the event, and you know how much fun we have just in Carlisle!

Yeah, I appreciate the invite but I'll have a couple of non-Shelby buddies with me and we're going straight to Carlisle.

You don't have to be a Team Shelby member, or even have a Shelby to attend our event...just enthusiasm for the marque! Your non-Shelby friends are more than welcome to join us, as is any Shelby related or Ford powered vehicle. We may even end up with a couple European exotics before all is said and done.

I have a coworker who likes to tell me how much faster and better handling his BMW is compared to my heavy mustang.

So I invited him to the track. Let's see if he shows.

Now that ought to be fun. He 'may' be able to close some ground in the corners, but you will destroy him on the straights.

There will also be a car show at the track with some pretty amazing prizes and trophies.

......and free lunch too!

You will be able to register for the cars show ahead of time, or day of show. It will be included in the "Charlestown Package" (which also includes Thursday night dinner at the host hotel/casino, evening program, cruise to Carlisle, and 'meatballs' for your car doors), but individually it will be $25.00

My SGT isn't show ready, and not likely to be by then. My stripes are fried. And definitely not track ready. But I would love hang out and meet some folks.

Heck, don't let that stop you entering. All the cars running on the track will be covered in burnt rubber, brake dust and splattered bugs!

I'm sure yours will represent itself well.

I wouldn't say boring, I'd say that because we were hosting the event, and we're meeting some of our Florida friends for the first time, we were "reserved" and trying to make a good first impression.

Now that we know each other, let's just see if you Sunshine Staters can keep up with us Yankees (both on the track and at the parties)!

If anyone who is planning on attending the Carlisle portion of our event has a stock 2007-2009 GT500, please PM me. I may have an "opportunity" for you during the Friday night dinner.

EVENT OVERVIEW....

The 2017 Team Shelby East Coast Grand Nationals are going to be better than ever, and you need to be there with us to enjoy four days of Shelby powered excitement!

The Northeast and the South Atlantic Regions of Team Shelby, in conjunction with Summit Point Raceway and Carlisle Events invite you to join us for an amazing weekend featuring a high performance driving, a cruise/poker run, car shows, parade, movie premier, special guests, food, music, friends, and one of a kind automobiles.

Do you feel the ‘need for speed’? Our event starts on June 1st, at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia, with a High Performance Driving Event. Although hosted by Team Shelby, this event is open to all Ford powered vehicles, and maybe even a few Euro-exotics who want to test themselves against some good old American horsepower…Carroll would certainly approve of that!

If you would like to attend Summit Point, but not track your car, spectators are welcome. There will be an ‘all Ford’ car show taking place in the Paddock while the track cars put on their own show at triple-digits. Everyone who attends will get a BBQ lunch, cooked and served up compliments of Team Shelby.

Shelby American will be in attendance, with their factory tractor trailer, showing off the latest vehicles they have to offer. Play your cards right, and one of the Shelby factory drivers “may” invite you to sit in the passenger seat for a thrill ride like no other you have experienced. Take our advice, and hold on tight!

A parade lap for all attendees is being scheduled, so even if you don’t take the corners at quite the same speed as those folks tracking their cars, you can still tell your friends that you ‘drove’ Summit Point (it’s okay with us if you keep the parade part of the story to yourself).

That evening we will be having dinner at the Hollywood Casino, which is adjacent to our West Virginia host hotel, The Inn at Charlestown. The dinner program will include a buffet, cash bar, presentations and awards. Our dinner view will overlook a live horse racing track, and Team Shelby will be sponsoring a race that evening, combining “Horses and Horsepower”. We get to greet the winning jockey and his horse, present the trophy, and get a copy of our photo in the Winners Circle.

Friday morning, after breakfast at the host hotel, our cruise/Poker-run to Carlisle, Pennsylvania begins. This will be a leisurely 100+ mile drive, through some of the nicest scenery that the mid-Atlantic region has to offer. The intention is to have all the cars stay together as a group (as best stop signs and traffic signals allow), as we make our way to historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, stopping at the largest monument on the battle field for a ‘photo-op’ , then having lunch nearby. After lunch we proceed to Carlisle, arriving in time for the Team Shelby Grand Entrance to the Ford Nationals. All Team Shelby members, and Shelby vehicles are invited to lineup, then enter the fairgrounds in style. This has become an anticipated feature of the Ford Nationals, as the spectators crowd the entrance to watch, and hear, the Shelby’s make their way to the show field. Once you park, visit our hospitality tent, adjacent to the Shelby American display on the Manufacturers Midway. But don’t dally, as Shelby American will be presenting the 50th Anniversary Super Snake on the main show stage shortly after the dust settles from our entrance.

Friday evening Team Shelby hosts our “Cars and Stars” celebration at the Ford Expo Center. It starts with a Shelby exclusive Shelby, Mustang, SVT, replica/tribute, and Ford powered car show in the Expo center parking lot, then moves inside for live music, dinner, beer & wine bar, presentations, awards (including announcing the Poker Run winner), prizes, some VERY special guests, charity auction, Shelby Girls, all surrounded by the latest Ford vehicles….last year that included the Ford GT!

After breakfast on Saturday morning at the host hotel, proceed on your own to the Carlisle Ford Nationals, taking place on the fairgrounds. Our hospitality tent, and the Shelby Girls, will be ready to greet you when you arrive. Don’t spend too much time enjoying the shade in our tent, with over 3000 cars on the show field, numerous manufactures, vendors, the car carrel, and an enormous swap meet, there is much to see. The 50th Anniversary car will be on stage again, Shelby American will be giving more ‘thrill rides’, but this time on the Auto-cross track, and the winners of Friday night’s car show will be presented with their trophies at noon. As soon as the applause from the award ceremony has died down, Team Shelby will be hosting lunch in our tent for all East Coast Grand National attendees. The afternoon brings the legendary burn-out contest (if you aren’t willing to smoke your ties until they literally explode, don’t bother entering), and the highly anticipated Ms. Carlisle contest. Our Shelby Girls will be representing Team Shelby in the contest, so be sure to show up and cheer them on to victory. Just like in any Shelby competition, we come to win!

Saturday evening brings the Carlisle downtown parade. If you have registered for it, stage your car with us, then parade to downtown Carlisle where they have blocked off the town square just for the parade cars to park for the townsfolk to enjoy. Restaurants, pubs, and bars are all open for your enjoyment. Walk around, enjoy more live music, check out the cars, but quickly make your way to the Carlisle Theater…

Team Shelby has the honor of presenting the East Coast premier of Adam Carolla’s documentary film “The 24 Hour War”! The full length film tells the story of Ford/Shelby versus Ferrari at Le Mans in the late 1960’s. We have bought out the entire theater for a Hollywood style movie premier. Dress in your finest (if you desire, otherwise business casual is fine), and get your photo taken by the paparazzi as you walk the red carpet. Prior to the film we will have a Team Shelby exclusive reception with wine/beer and hot hor d’oeuvres. Grand National attendees will be given preferential seating, then the theater doors will open for the public to join us in viewing the film.

Sunday affords you one last leisurely walk through the Carlisle show field, a last chance to haggle with the vendor who has that ‘one of a kind’ item you’ve been looking at all weekend, and the opportunity to swap a few final stories with all your Shelby friends before you head home.
