I hate my dealler

Recommended Posts

Bare with me guys I am new to this posting a message deal but I feel the need to get this off my chest.

when the car was first introduced early last year I contacted the largest ford dealer in Georgia. I had just purchased 3 -F-550 refridgerated trucks(160k) from them. I was the one that informed them about the GT500. I then requested them to start a list because I felt like there would be many people looking to buy this car. I was #1

I then asked what type of pricing I would get on the car.I was told that he could not promise me a deal but he could get me one at MSRP. Well over the course of the last year I have turned over all of my service work(90k) over to them. I had also purchased another F-550 from them(55k) I also sent my mom and dad over there and they bought a new mini van from them. I guess you could say I had built a good relationship with them. Well about 3 weeks ago I called them to let them know it was time to order. I knew that due to this GREAT web site. He told me to come by and place my order. Which I had already filled out thanks to you guys here I had all of the information needed to do so.

I believe that was a Monday on Friday I got a call they just wanted me to know that the asking price for the GT500 would be 15k over MSRP. I asked him what do you mean? He said yes 15k over! I said I cannot believe this I have been waiting for over a year to get this car. I also had been lead to believe that I would get the car for over a year at MSRP. He stated that the owner decieded that the market on the car is at 15k over and that would be the price.

The more I thought about it the more mad I got so I canceled my order and tried to move on. Now I can't find a list shorter than 30 to get on. Or at a fair price!

Sorry this happened, but you are a great example of how people still fall for dealer lies. The dealer is never your friend, they have screwed the US buyer for years and continue to do so. There are countless stories on this board and others of the same thing. Now if you had something in writing it would have been different. people must keep in mind the dealer is there to make as much money as he can, and is not concerned with your loyalty or anyone elses.

burnedgt500 -

I would ask to speak directly to the GM or the owner about this (if you haven't already). Give them a run down on EXACTLY how much you've spent over the last year or so like you did in your post. Tell them that your word is your bond and that you expected the same of them. Give them a chance to look you in the eye and say that none of that matters. If they do, let them know that you'll walk away from the GT500, but also from ever buying anything else from them again. If a dealer thinks that by not getting $15k now (for the GT500) will lead them to loose hundreds of thousands over the next few years they might be more reasonable.

If nothing else works, I've said it before... tell your story to whoever will listen. Friends, neighbors, customers/vendors AND the local press. No dealer wants the 5 o'clock news guys to be there asking them tough questions about bad customer relations.

I'm not in the new/press in any way/shape/form, but I've seen it in action - IT WORKS when you're "in the right".

Good luck - and don't forget to post your dealers name in the "broken promise" post: http://www.stangsunleashed.com/forums/inde...p?showtopic=548

and "gouge" post: http://www.stangsunleashed.com/forums/inde...p?showtopic=343

I feel for you. I am on a list at a Ford dealership in Indiana and was told originally that the dealership has never marked a car up over sticker, and did not plan to do so with the shelby. Later I was told they would mark the car up 2 grand. Now I am told they are doing sealed bids. The salesman has been straight forward and is a real car nut. His hands are tied. If you can wait for the 2008 I can probably get you one for sticker from the dealer I am getting mine at. Hang in there there are dealers out there selling for sticker.

No dealers around here (Connecticut) selling at sticker. Personally, I'd jump at $15K over sticker and a car in the garage by the end of the year. I definitely hear what the original poster is saying though...if the dealer can't keep their word, find another dealer. I've spoken to many that were very honest (maybe not so moral in terms of what they're marking the cars up to, but at least they were honest). The guy I bought my F150 from last year never even returned my calls about the GT500. Lots of "stores" are going to be losing former loyal customers over these cars by the way they are handling this...

i went to check out the dealer my dad works at, in hayward, they said the first one they are getting is convertible they have about 15 people waiting on them and they are askin 25k over msrp, i dont remeber if that was only for that first one, or if it was for all of them, he also told me her heard they were thinking of making very limited quantities of the gt500's which i dont really believe to the extent of how he put it, he said msrp should be about 40-42k depending on which type options you get and 44 - 46 vert.

Sorry to hear about your situation as it hurts all of our credibility. I am the commercial slaes manager at a medium sized Ford store in the midwest. I have personally sold our 2 Shelby's as well as a powerlease Shelby to 3 of my commercial customer owners. All 3 were at MSRP. Two of them were ecstatic, the other thought he should get his vert at or below invoice but will settle to pay MSRP after I told him to check prices on Ebay.

My dealer wanted market value over MSRP but as I explained, I can not go back on my credibility to these good customers who come back year after year and reluctantly he agreed. I have 3 other with deposits and i told them going in that we are only probably going to get 2 cars and if they want one that bad, I will get them one but the price is TBD as I am not sure how much over MSRP I will have to pay to get the cars. They are fine with that and it is understood that their deposit willl be refunded if they do not want to pay what the final amount is.

I hope you find another good dealer in your area for your commercial business and that they understand what good customer relations are.

DAMN, I love this web site. You guys rock! The information I have gained from here is just unreal. I know more about the GT 500 than all of the dealers I have spoke with. And I have spoke with many.

I'm still in search of mine at MSRP. After I got screwed

Keep it up and I will find one some where.

Add us to the list of people that got screwed. Santa Margarita Ford in Rancho Santa Margarita is going through their list - we were number 7 on it and we got the call today - $20k over sticker. We thought we had a good working relationship with the dealer, with us buying our last 2 cars from them, and our car club having a car show there for the last 10 years, but I guess business is business.

I guess that is the way it goes.

Well guys, I wrote the owner at my dealership a letter as a last resort. I have sent emails to every dealer with in 300 miles looking for my gt500 at MSRP. I have 2 posibilites. However they are slim to none. So I wrote my dealer a letter, hoping and praying he will do the right thing. I don't have much hope but I am still looking. I will keep everyone posted on the answer I get from him.

No doubt, the GT500 will be an awesome ride. But, there are lots of outstanding automobiles that can be purchased for less. Why deal with this hassle? Or, wait. Can you spell Ford GT all over again? These cars certainly will be selling for MSRP a year or so after introduction..... Let it be. Those 6 letters on the left rear deck aren't worth $50K.

Buy a Powerlease Optiion certificate ($13 =$16k), amd I'll sell you the GT500 for $1000 over invoice.

If you pay a markup to the dealership, you are also making it a more expensive vehicle. That means more tax, higher license fees (for years), etc. Instead, pay that "markup' money to an Option holder willing to sell. He is not going to tax ya! Find them on eBay... I have people contacting me wanting to sell them for considerably less than the $20K people are paying. Just my informed opinion. I hope you get your car. Let me know if I can help...
