mschaub
Hello everyone,I know there have been a lot of threads scattered around here about this, but a lot of the ones I looked at seemed a little bit old. I have a 2011 GT500 that needs some tires again. I was thinking of switching brands. Still trying to find something that will stick. I hear a lot of good things about the Michelin PSS. While searching around I also heard some talk of the Continental ExtremeContact DW's. However the Continental's only have a 275/35R20 not a 285/35R20. Has anyone ever used these and how did they do?I already have traction issues, just like everyone else, so I am not sure I want to go down in width. It probably isn't going to effect it that much though. Has anyone tried out the newer goodyear G:2's? What about other choices? Mickey Thompson, Nitto's, etc...All opinions are welcome, Thanks. Secondo
I have used Mickey Thompson E/T and Nitto NT05R's on the rear and they both hook very well. If you're looking for straight line traction on the street and track, those are your best choices. If you want the best all around tire, the Michelin Pilot Sports I believe would be a great choice and also Nitto Invo's are great tire, I have those on now. barspen
I've run Continentals (19's) for several years. They are a great street tires that wears well and are quiet, but are not the best for traction. Better than stock GY, but not that sticky. I agree with Secondo, the NT05 would probably be my choice for a sticky tire that you can run on the street.
Deuterios
i have the same car and wanted to get the Nitto but end up buying the Toyo proxes r888, they are cheaper and stick pretty well, only issue i had was on wet conditions. good luck
Rod Simas
I had my GT500 upgraded to a Super Snake and with all the added hp Shelby recommended doing the wide body so we could incorporate larger deeper rims and of course larger tires being Michelin PPS. I find them to stick on pavement quite well and in rain good as you know there are a lot of racing tires out there. In my younger days of racing I would talk to the guys racing the same car I had and ask plenty of questions, but don't always think there going to tell you everything. Take notes and check all the markings on the tires and look for the tire compound "Very Important".
