Hi Guys

Can anyone help me with a problem with a rear wheel sensor

A year ago we fitted a rear wheel sensor The one sent was a new shaped one the others on the car are the banded ones .Trained the sensors all working fine Two weeks ago had two new rear-tyres fitted, started the car and the low tyre pressure light came on The one playing up was the new type sensor, so ordered a new one which was fitted, started the car same problem Tried training the sensors again but the new sensor will not peep I trained the wheels again and put it against the old one in my hand and it peeped Will work outside the car but not in the tyre

Don't want to keep buying more sensors !!!!

Any help will be most welcome

Thanks

Rob, I don't think you can mix types and have the system work. If your Mustang had banded then you must replace with banded, or go with all unbanded once confirmed what you choose is compatible with your Mustangs ECM.

those things are annoying. I would disconnect the whole system so it won't go off, but that's probably not the help you were looking for. What do the tire guys have to say about it?

I think that might be the next thing to do really annoying

Tyre guys don't know what to do apart from get another sensor, but all they will do is send me the same one !!!!!

When I replaced the sensor a year ago they sent me the new type and said it was compatible with the banded ones , we fitted it and it worked great Not sure why it stopped working when we changed the tyre I may have to purchase a set of four as you said and try that !

Ilmor,

That is not a true statement, I had one band go bad on my 500 shortly after buying car.

Put the 2010 valve stem on ONE tire and it is still working fine with the three banded styles.

Uhmm ... are those sensors manufactured/distributed by the same companies? Have you contacted the manufacturer rep/distributor to get an answer/explanation? or if you have someone that speaks Chinese ...call Ford's tire dept.!!! (I am on a emoticon fasting restriction... otherwise, I would have included a "rolling on the floor laughing" emoji!!!) Happy Hump Day!

good point different manufacturers (countries) may not be compatible. It may have worked for Jim because of that..... why does it have to be so difficult.... I remember when getting a heater in the car was a huge selling item... :drop:
