BadTony
Is it just me, or do the mirrors on the new Shelby (and all new Mustangs for that matter) seem big and bulky compared to the last Cobra release? Couldn't Ford at least paint them with the same color as the car they are mounted to like they did with 03/04 Cobra's. I think that the black plastic look seems cheap. Since Ford has not begun production yet, couldn't they actually still do this? Is there an order option to get them to do this? Anyone have any thoughts? Our first GT500 customer also has a 2005 Mustang GT. He had the mirrors painted on the 05 and it looks awesome! The black plastic was likely done to keep replacement costs down (lots of customers manage to break their mirrors and it's already a couple hundred bucks to replace one - imagine how much more the prep and paint would add to the replacement cost! BadTony
I think things like ergonomics and fit & finish seem more important to me on a $40k+ car. I'd just assume that Ford did the painting on the mirrors and build it into the price, instead of the buyer having to have a local paint and body guy do the painting. Heck, the local paint guy would surely charge no less than $500 or $600 to do the job that Ford could have done at minimal cost. I like things to just be "right the first time". Besides, replacement costs are what insurance is for.
Evil95GT
IMO, the large plastic mirrors always looked like something that was swiped from the F150 parts bin. I wonder if there's a way to retro-fit SN95 mirrors?
07 Shelby Cobra
Are there not aftermarket painted mirror covers? Do they look OK?
