Shelby GT500 crashes into Brand New Truck

Wow to the point above; glad no pedestrians were hit and that he didn't have a passenger.

Guessing his insurance company is extremely happy to have him as a customer.

I'm guessing his insurance company is more happy to have him as a former customer. With the video, he's going to be toast. And with the prior company's note that it was wreckless (probably with a citation for street racing) he'll have big trouble getting coverage from anyone. In fact, a first time DUI may have an easier time than this guy.

By the way, the area looked pretty residential to me.

This looked like it happened at a car show in North Carolina. All the license plates in the video were NC plates. You can see the Shelby’s Rear Plate clearly at .45 to .47 minutes in to the video.

Unfortunately, this type of hooning happens at too many car shows. Downside: several nice cars were wrecked and driver was injured. Upside: No bystanders injured and that model year GT500 most likely just became a fraction of a percent rarer.

To think he could have saved it by letting off when it broke away to the left instead he stayed on it & over corrected & spun out.

I was thinking the same thing Jim....like all have said sad to see a Shelby destroyed but could have been much worse if he had a passenger or hit someone walking.

I am not sure why the Truck was being Towed away, it looked Drivable.

really I hope you're kidding.... the quarter panel was pushed into the left rear tire. The truck was running when it got hit so it most likely tripped the fuel pump kill switch and the lights were gone from the right rear, that's a safety violation.

We also do not know the physical condition of the trucks driver. He was whipped around pretty violently and may have not been in any condition to drive.

I looked at it again and to me, it looked like the Left Rear Quarter was not on the Tire, it looked about 3 or 4 inches off.

You seriously think it was safely drivable on the street? Maybe it will move under its own power but at least one tailight is nonfunctional. Even if you could drive it away why bother? Its next stop obviously needs to be the body shop.

The damage to the GT500 doesn't say much for the side impact protection. I know the forward motion increased the damage but that side was caved in pretty badly.

I also saw no evidence of any air bags delpoying. Doesn't that seem strange for that kind of impact?

It was a center Side impact with no one in the Passenger Seat so I think no Sensors were activated.
