twobjshelbys
I have an 09 black GT 500 which i purchased new...the issue is very fine scratches (cant be felt) i assume in the clearcoat....any suggestions on removing them They are microscratches in the clear coat. A good detailer will be able to buff them out. On my Barrett Jackson Shelby GT (black with red stripes) I had it detailed after doing hand washes after two years. It came out looking like new. There is nothing you can do to prevent them. One way to reduce them though is to never ever ever use a california duster. I used spray detailer and a well aged microfiber towel. mhr1961
+1 on the California Duster, do not use, especially on black and dark blue. I have owned a Vista Blue SGT Convertible for 5+ years now. I have only used a good quality microfiber towel for washing and follow up with Meguiar’s Spray Detailer with clean microfiber towel afterwards on the paint and the stripes. Paint and Stripes still look new. Edited October 10, 2015 by mhr1961
TexasShelby
I would have a professional take a look and let them buff it out with the proper materials. Once done though, A duster on a black car is never a good idea. There are a plethora of good detailing and touch up products. Don't skimp on buying cheap micro-fiber towels, they are very important. And too many "sam's" specials are worse than a duster. The Chemical Guys chemicalguys.com, have a good kit for keeping black cars black. Their videos are top notch if you are into the elbow grease yourself. Check out their stuff just for black cars. I can't attest to it, mine car is white. Their V7 is a great detail spray. Their towels are top notch. (if kept clean) Adam's Polish is another great company. They have a ton of great detail sprays, waxes and sealers. Check them out as well. I keep my white and vista blue up pretty well with a good wash with dawn, tar remove with kerosene, clay bar, compound cut in if needed and about 3 coats of paste ICE. I do follow ups with liquid ICE. NO dust or staining. It's also great on hoses and stuff under the hood. That's maybe once a year. It keeps detailed with the V7 and their best towels, but I was pretty much an Adam's Quick Detail Spray (among a ton of their other products) guy for the majority of the Shelby's life and it works well. Good luck and post before and after pics if you can!

This is pretty much my regimen as well, including the use of clay bar in the spring followed by Turtle Wax Ice paste (I used two coats) and the Ice liquid in between. I had some terry cloth towels that I used for almost 30 years as my dry off towels but they started getting too thin to be useful. I pre-conditioned a couple of microfiber towels by washing them in the machine about 10 times before I used them. That really softened them up. When I wash (I do the same thing with my GT) I use turtle wax soap and wet the car, then use one of the towels in the wash, and then before it dries I rinse out the towel and wet down once more and wipe the water off with the towel and then immediately use the dry towel to wipe the streaks off while they are still wet. Then I follow up with an overall polish up with spray detailer. Even with this you will still get the microscratches in the black paint, there really isn't much you can do about them. mikeljgt500kr
Gloss It! also makes some very nice products, especially for taking out swirl marks, making the matte/satin parts look new, and sealing the clear coat.
lbj
A Meguiar's rotary buffer set on 3.5 using their chemical compound formula works well for me.
AstroDan
wash, clay and the Adams Swirl and Haze remover with my Porter Cable and black pad. If still there, step up to orange pad. Done
