CARROLL SHELBY ANNUAL TRIBUTE AND CAR SHOW AIMS TO HOST LARGEST SHELBY G.T.350 GATHERING IN HISTORY

GARDENA, Calif. - April 2, 2015 - The third annual Carroll Shelby Tribute and Car Show is aiming to host the largest Shelby G.T.350 gathering in history on Saturday, May 16, including the new model from Ford Motor Company. In honor of the 50th anniversary of this historic car, Team Shelby is calling owners of all model years to display their steeds next to other Shelby and Ford powered high performance vehicles at the corporate headquarters in Gardena, Calif.

The event will include a panel of Shelby G.T.350 experts, as well as historic displays from the new Carroll Shelby Automotive Museum. A portion of Mr. Shelby’s personal car collection will be opened to the public and Carroll Shelby’s Store will debut new products for the event.

“The first Shelby G.T.350 made history when it was launched in 1965 and 50 years later, we hope to do so again with a salute to this iconic car,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American and co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International. “With the help of Team Shelby, LA SAAC, Mustang Club of America and others, this should be one of the most exciting gatherings of Shelby cars this year.”

The Wimbledon White and Guardsman Blue Shelby G.T.350 was unveiled at Riverside Raceway on January 27, 1965. Winning its first race weeks later, it quickly became a symbol of American performance, grit and ingenuity.

“The Ford Shelby G.T.350 is one of the most influential cars in American history,” said Neil Cummings, co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing. “The first Ford Mustang to wear a Shelby badge, it made high performance accessible at an affordable price. The hunger for a Mustang-based Shelby continues today with fans across the globe.”

Shelby American will display its latest vehicles, including the 627 HP 2015 Shelby GT at the event. Event attendees can look forward to meeting Shelby American executives, with potential appearances from the Ford Motor Company team.

“While we’re planning the largest gathering Shelby G.T.350s in history, we’ll also exhibit Shelby Cobras and other significant Ford powered performance cars,” said Jenni Shreeves, Executive Director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “This event began as an annual tribute to Carroll and has evolved into a celebration of his lasting influence. We look forward to honoring Carroll’s legacy with the many people who share his passion for American performance.”

Team Shelby, Mustang Club of America and LASAAC will attend this official Team Shelby event. All Shelby and Ford performance car owners interested in displaying their cars can register at http://www.cscf.org for a $40 donation to the Foundation.

Sounds fun. I could bring either my 2012 GT350, or one of my 20th anniversary GT350's. Probably one of the 20th cars. I think one of them has a rock chip already, so the drive would be no big deal.

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I'll be in Newport Beach the week of 4/26 so if it happened to be that week it would have been a no brainer ! I also might be coming back down in May with my trailer to pick up a car, so if that deal comes together I would just schedule that trip at the same time !

That was the most profitable GT350 he never madeFord was really stupid to try that one.

Sounds like it worked out well for all parties then. I remember when they came out. At the time Ford knew exactly what they were doing and took a calculated risk, and what they paid Carroll Shelby was a miniscule amount in the end. In a way the 20th cars do have a little Shelby history to them. I still own 5 of them and love them to death, so to speak.

Since the case was settled out of court, like his suits against Factory Five and SuperPerformance against their "Cobras", we will never know how much he got from Ford. I have heard rumors it was in the $20-$30 million range and was given to his charity, so Ford wouldn't kick about it too much. He just wanted to stick Ford's nose in the crap as he hated them so much in those days, and using his image and the fame of a GT350 for a car they built was too much for him.
