2014 GT500 725 RWHP
I am looking to upgrade my rear tires to the michelin pilot super sports 315/35r20 for the rear. I have a stock stance 2014 Shelby Gt500 although the engine is a bit modified. Im trying to get as much down on the rear tires, but am curious since these are 12.4" wide if I will have any issues? 1 Alibi 2
According to TireRack, you need a 10.5 to 12.5" wide rim to run that size tire. Not saying it can't be done, but a wider rim is recommended.
BIKEBOY
As Alibi mentioned, it can be done , but remember if the rim width is narrower than recommended, it defeats the purpose of the wider "surface patch" , because it doesn't flatten out appropriately and make contact anyway. The whole idea is to maximize the contact patch to the pavement for grip.
2007red40thGT500
i run an 11" with 24mm offset and i think thats about as wide as you can safely go, unless the '14 model year is different.
randylasaac
Are you aware that Ford had to knurl the inside of the bead on the rims so the tires no longer rotated on the wheel approaching 200 MPH? Ford discovered the valve stems were releasing air and the tires were rotating on the rims at speed. So if you change the rims and tires maybe you do not want to go too fast? tomshep
I am running that size in an Invo on my 14. I am also running CS2 rims which are the same dimension as CS1 rims. These are 11" wide. 100% stock PP suspension but needed a panhard bar to center. Zero rubbing. Tom
