HARALD KELLEY
The one Carroll touched is what counts for me (40th). That said, who knows if Ford/Shelby will reach out to Hertz for another special run. I guess time will tell.
mach 1 1970
I would sure like to see the black and gold color combo for sure. I have always liked that look. The 06 GTH is one of the best looking Shelby's on the road today. It has that magic look. I miss mine.
QuickSilverShelby
Any chance we'll see a 50th Anniversary GT350H? When I was at Shelby at the end of August I was told by one of the "top, top dogs" that Shelby was considering pitching a new rental car deal with Hertz. It is indeed being discussed so it may happen. QSS

twobjshelbys
I saw some statement that the 2016 GT350 will be available only with the Tremec 6 speed. This would preclude a Hertz branded car.
gene64cobra
i ran across someone with hertz in charlotte at the 50th and she spoke of another deal possibly... i didn't get her credentials but she said she was w/ hertz and in town for a conference. time will tell. ITHERTZ66
The "GT350" will be a manual trans only, but the GT350H can be it's own nameplate and Shelby has been known to build specific models for Hertz before. I don't see why they couldn't outfit an automatic transmission if that was necessary. I don't think they should, though. If you can't drive a stick, you don't get to rent one!!!! Somehow I don't think it's going to happen unless Ford goes and puts a automatic in a production run.

Somehow I don't think it's going to happen unless Ford goes and puts a automatic in a production run. That could happen, HERTZ request set number automatic GT350 cars from Ford. Not sure what SA role would be as this car is already built & named by Ford. Maybe the GT350 H rocker and gold stripes would be added by SA. Cannot see SA duplicating the work that Ford is doing. I guess time will tell.
mach 1 1970
The manual trans is becoming a thing of the past. It's just a matter of time until Ford puts an 8 speed auto in the Shelby . Why not start with the Hertz model . I like a manual but I'm a dying breed and Ford wants a younger pool of buyers. I also think a average driver can drive the new crop of auto trans cars faster then a manual. What do they put in the F1 cars or IMSA corvettes etc. The Auto trans SGT's were boring to drive but you put a paddle shift 8 speed set up for race mode and that's another story . I drove a caddy CTS -V auto. @ Road Atlanta and loved every minute.

ITHERTZ66
I would LOVE a paddle shifter in my '06 Hertz. I simply can't stand the current transmission and the lousy shifter. Yes, it's boring, and it doesn't matter that I have about 500 HP on tap. Yes, I can drive it fast, but I prefer more driver control/input and to manually be able to keep my revs where I want them. I will sacrifice speed for control/fun any day unless I had a dedicated track or drag car.
mach 1 1970
I must tell you that picture of your dad's 66 next to your 06 is just priceless . Like it a lot. I owned a 06 Hertz auto with no mods and it was great to look @ but not a on ramp fun car. Maybe 500 hp would have fixed that. You know with a paddle shift auto you can hold your gear in the corners. You can also get rev match on down shifts.
ITHERTZ66
Hard to color a WHITE car black with photoshop, but here's a shot at it... I kind of dig the gold stripes over white, though!!
gene64cobra
nice I like the white. that would be sooo sweet if they did that in both black and white.....
mach 1 1970
I hope either Ford or the folks @ Shelby consider these color options . Better yet bring out the H option.
vapor08GT500
Ford/SVT will not do this, even though we'd all love to see it. The costs involved for an automatic with this new Voodoo engine and certification will cost more than they feel it will be worth overall cost wise to appeal to the few overall that will appreciate it. I have brought this up before, but in the end it is all about the numbers. For the new "16 GT350's" to have a rental model with a manual.....use Google and see what went on with the first 200 ( off late night tired memory, I believe 256?) or so 66 GT350H models with the T10 manual......all the rest ended up being C-4's because of too many clutch, racing, and durability/stupidity issues....those who remember this or know enough about can take this from here.....LOL Alex
Helge Ruchelski
Definetely partial to the black. The white looks good but not as stealth as the black.
mach 1 1970
The Camaro zl1 580 hp , 2015 ZO6 corvette 8 speed auto and all foreign high hp only offer auto trans. The outside venders have the auto trans that can handle anything Ford can build. Cost is not the problem since the vender makes the trans not Ford. I bet half the Corvettes sold are auto's wake up Ford.

Larry T
It would be cool if it happens but it would be a a few years away the ADM's these cars will get may be a big sticking point but 2016 would be the 50th anniversary of the original program. mach 1 1970
In a few years, when I get over 70, I might consider a slush box, but not while I'm young…... Slush box ! The new 8 speed gear box shifts faster than any human could. They even shift faster than a Porsche trans. But I get where you are coming from I like a shelby with a manual. mikeljgt500kr
Oh, even my C6 in my '68 KR shifts faster than I do with a top loader, but that is not the point, as you say, a Shelby is meant to have a manual gear box.
interceptor
It wouldn't be out of form to put a manual trans in a GT350H. the first 100 '66s had manuals and were only then switched to autos because they were frying the clutches. twobjshelbys
I drove both manual and automatic in my 2006 Shelby GTs. The auto shifted exactly (+-200RPM) of where I shifted the manual. And it did it faster although I think I did it smoother. The auto seemed "grabby" or "snappy" but I might have been being too gentle with the manual too.
