Your money will go to a good foundation to help fight ALS. click link for more info on raffle - need not be present to win! http://www.stop-als.org/wincar.aspx ALS is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease & is a fatal neurological disorder that robs the affected individual of their ability to control their muscles which leads to loss of mobility and eventually the ability to eat, drink, and even breathe. The progression of weakness and muscle wasting can follow several different patterns. It may begin, for example, with difficulty of fine finger movements such as handling car keys or other objects and then move on to affect the muscles in the whole hand, then the arms. shoulders and legs. Later the muscles that control swallowing and respiration become impaired. Regardless of how it will begin, ALS is relentless and quick in it's progression. "Familial" ALS (FALS) FALS may be inherited in a dominant manner in which a faulty gene inherited from one parent is enough to trigger the disease. Rarely is it in a recessive manner, in which a faulty gene from each parent is required for the disease to develop. About 90% of the time ALS occurs in a family with no history of the disease. This disorder is called sporadic ALS.
Evil95GT
Coldwater, I started reading, and thought "it couldn't be the same ALS", as it's a disease that you don't often hear about. The fact is, I'm SO happy you posted this. Reason being, Jerry's father was diagnosed with ALS in May 1997. By Xmas 1997, he had no use of his arms at all. A few weeks later, he was placed on a ventilator (trach tube). We watched someone who was so full of life, knowledge, and love wither away to nothing. On November 13, 1998, my father-in-law lost his fight against the disease. It's a horrible disease. We have contributed to the foundation several times, and we've tried to raise awareness as much as we can. Thank you for taking the time to post the link. We'll definitely be buying some tickets. Aussie XAXB
Looks pretty cool, I see it is a Hertz car. Too bad I wouldn't be able to afford the income tax on it if I won. Steve
ColdwaterHotrod
Evil95GT, Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully everyone on this board will buy tickets to try to win this car so they can sell it (or keep it) so they can get a 2007 Shelby & help find a cure for ALS. Can't win if you don't play!
