FordGeek
So, There I was at 5 am heading to work for a 6am telecon with some folks overseas; minding my own business of course. When what should pull up next to me along a deserted feeder road but a really nice looking gray SC Saleen. I never got to see the rear end, but I recognize the hood specific to the SC model. The web site says it has 465hp (at the crank of course). Now, for those who don't know me I have a Kenne Bell stage 3 on my car pushing 716hp at the wheels. Anyway, the older gentlemen in the car must have had an extra cup of Starbucks for breakfast because he begins to egg me on for a quickie. At this point we're going around 40 mph and we have nothing but road ahead of us and there are no sidestreets or underpasses where traffic can impede some spirited driving. Seeing that the coast was clear and safe, I proceeded to drop to 2nd gear and slow to around 30 mph. He gunned it first and it was on. Let me tell you something, if you can afford it, you've got to get a Kenne Bell. I was only giving the car 3/4 throttle to keep some traction, but even then it was like playing with a VW Beetle. In fact, for a while I stayed next to him (at about 90 mph) and then simply gave it full throttle. It seemed as though the guy was standing still...I let off at 120 as I was running out of road quick and I knew of some intersections that were coming up within a few a half mile or so. Needless to say when we got to the first light the guy wouldn't get next to me; I'm sure all of you know about that humbling feeling you get when you've been handed your butt. Regardless, for those of you considering anything other than a GT500 (ie. Saleen or Roush) just wait a while if you're not willing to pay ADM. Hopefully, your time will come, and when it does I gaurantee you will not have any buyer's remorse. BTW...I beat my friend's mildly modifed Z06 at the track last week. But I'll tell you what, them there things is quick! I wouldn't dare touch one of those with a stock Shelby (he was running 11.8 in stock form and he's not a great driver). 150man
Cool. Since he doesn't know you car is modded, he'll probaly think all GT500's are that fast!
69deluxe
Around here a Saleen dealer was asking $75k for theirs. I'll bet he paid just as much as a GT500 with ADM. BUT his is modified to the fullest extent. Not sure what else he can do to his to get more power...maybe a different blower, but he still only has a 4.6L. How do you think it would have gone with a stock GT500? Probably a driver's race.

Yeah, most likely. Especially when you factor in the extra weight of the Shelby. But, if they had the 3.73 rear end upgrade, then it would be tough to beat in the quarter. SLGT750
Hey FordGeek nice run! What all have you done to put down 716hp? I cant wait to get my KB, not that I need it but it sure comes in handy in situations like yours and not walking away with your tail between your legs! I cant wait to get my KB, not that I need it but it sure comes in handy in situations like yours and not walking away with your tail between your legs! These guys with 700+ hp need to have a big sign on their cars so us regular guys don't get suckered in like the dummy in the saleen. Lambo also has 700+ don't know what he did either but wow look out. That is a neat story FordGeek thanks for sharing
FordGeek
Hey FordGeek nice run! What all have you done to put down 716hp? I cant wait to get my KB, not that I need it but it sure comes in handy in situations like yours and not walking away with your tail between your legs! Not a whole lot. Just the KB stage 3 (using the 2 7/8" pulley) and a high flow Bassani X-Pipe (with high flow cats) coupled with dual chamber flowmasters - that's it. Everthing in the drivetrain is stock; although I'm planning on changing out the two piece drive shaft before it decides to give up the spirit; which it will. I already have an aluminum one piece from Empire Driveline but haven't had the time lately to get under her skirt. I will not have a choice should the two piece die before it's time. The other thing I need pretty bad is a scattershield for the tranny. If she decides to blow, I'll have shrapnel in my seat meat in no time. 69deluxe
So you're still running stock suspension with 716+rwhp? Do you still have the fillings in your teeth?

You don't necessarily need a KB to beat back a SC Saleen, though...... simple tune and pulley will do it. ask me how I know
