Jiggy
Guys I need your help, I am looking into buying a Supercharger for my SGT (obviously closely followed afterwards by brake and suspension upgrades) I did alot of research and read a numerous posts on alot of forums, and I feel my life just isn't complete without one ^^ I don't want to push the stock block to far, and I don't have a 'HP requirement'. If the kit makes 420rwhp then so be it, if it makes 450 then thats also fine. If it makes alot more then i'll likely start to get nervous at any sound I hear coming from the engine department I am most attracted to the Whipple HO 550 kit, or a Kenne Bell kit. Somehow in my head a Mustang and a Whipple belong together, and I really like to stay close to american roots, so I'm drawn towards the Whipple mostly.I also like the fuel solution a bit better that comes with the Whipple (dual GT500 fuel pump) A couple of things to keep in mind which are important for me, maybe more so then for others: - I live overseas (Netherlands), so I need a company which would want to send this overseas. I'd prefer buying the kit from Shelbystore, but the Supercharger inventory looks like to keep changing every week or so, I don't see the Whipple kit there anymore. Also Ford Racing doesn't seem to offer this anymore either but switched to the Kenne Bell? - parts are very hard to get here (as in, you can't get them), so I need a 100% complete kit (excluding tools of course). I will be able to get a hose or a clamp and stuff like that if needed, but that's about where it ends for Mustang parts here.; - Dyno tuners are not very common over here. Let alone Dyno tuners who can tune a Mustang. Let alone one who actually knows what he's doing. Let alone one who has supercharger knowledge. So I need a kit which comes complete with software which I can load up myself. I do realise that if I want to get the most out of the kit i'd have to get it dyno tuned, but i've heard good things about some tunes that can be delivered together with the kits, and I can worry about a custom tune later. Any suggestions on where I should be shopping? Edited August 21, 2014 by Jiggy

Jiggy
That looks good. However this might be a problem: Whipple Calibration. This Whipple Twin Screw Supercharger requires that the vehicle PCM be sent to Whipple for the necessary reprogramming. I am not sure if this will be done for overseas (as on some websites it's mentioned the software won't be sent overseas, or that a ProCal tool is delivered with the software. And then on some they say it doesn't. So confusing...) On the FRPP site it also says (and this is also part of why software looks like my biggest problem): Due to multiple calibrations, online registration is required to receive the Pro-Cal tool after purchase Engine calibrations are developed and supported for US and Canadian market vehicles only. Other international market export calibrations are not supported. Edited August 21, 2014 by Jiggy
Jer
Call American Muscle directly. They can explain how to handle the ProCal tool registration. Jer
jmn444
You can opt for a slightly larger pulley to detune the kit to a power level you are comfy with too.
2007_Shelby_GT
So many choices! Nothing against Kenne-Bell, Whipple, or Paxton, but I went with the Edelbrock E-Force on my SGT! Everything you need is in the kit, from spark plugs to fuel injectors to heat exchanger for the intercooler - and it includes a preloaded tuner! I purchased from Lethal Performance, but there are other vendors. Stock tune from Edelbrock will work with all basic components of your SGT, but you will need to purchase a stock airbox from a standard GT, unless you dyno-tune for the CAI, and if you go that route, you should upgrade your fuel delivery system. (Boost-A-Pump will work, but I went with the GT500 dual-pump) If you have basic mechanical skills and can follow directions, you can do everything yourself! Great telephone technical support from Edelbrock as well! With the stock pulley producing 5 lbs of boost, Ford Racing CAI, and GT500 fuel pump, mine dyno-tuned by VMP at 420 lbs torque and 460 horsepower at the wheels! (and that was on a 95-degree day!) ITHERTZ66
Whipple 550. You didn't mention if your car is an AUTO or a MANUAL? I'm guessing Manual, but Whipple/Ford Racing has kits/pulleys/tunes for either
Jiggy
Sorry, it's a manual
zachman
I have the whipple 550 on my Shelby GT. Best mod I have ever done to the car. I had it installed at SAI in 2009. You won't regret it. Edited August 21, 2014 by zachman

07SGT2952
Sam, How long have you had the Edelbrock installed? Are you still glad you went with that one vs the others? If I can ever scrape enough pennies together that is the kit I would get. Not to take anything away from the others but I love the look of it. It doesn't scream supercharger but that is what I like about it.

Very stealthy, (there is a supercharger whine, but it's subdued), looks almost like the stock manifold, plenty of power with more available by changing the pulley, easy on the engine with low boost, and more. Again, love the in your face look of the other superchargers out there, and they all produce gobs of power, but the Edelbrock suits my tastes, and THAT is the final decision maker! 2007_Shelby_GT
Will the SGT strut tower brace fir under the hood with the Edelbrock. No, the stock SGT strut brace is to low to fit with the Edelbrock, or any other supercharger, except maybe the Paxton. However, I replaced my stock brace eith the V6/Bullitt brace - it fits just fine! Sam
Jiggy
Cheers for all the replies and feedback, much appreciated! I'm afraid I just can't have peace with anything except a Whipple. KB, and edelbrock all look great, but somehow without a 'real' reason I just want a whipple. So that's what it's going to be upcoming winter
