These Are Ss Splitters. Whatever You May Believe They Are Not Kr Knock Offs

Recommended Posts

The description says they're ss spitters. I don't understand your point.

Yes it does say SS splitter. Thankfully this $900 splitter looks nothing like the $3,000 splitter that goes on a KR.

The last thing we want is those KR owners whining about their precious KR parts available to everyone.

I guess I need to work on my sarcasm skills.

Yes this is obviously a KR splitter. I just find it somewhat funny that a once restricted item is now for sale under a different name. What I find even funnier is that people who order this thinking they will be getting an SS splitter are going to be in for a surprise.

If SPP is no longer going to honor restricted parts for their cars that is fine. It would be nice however if they would let us know. It would eliminate quite a few problems people seem to have with SPP. I think it would a be safe to say that blaming a restricted parts dump on another company or changing the name of a restricted part so you can dump it is laughable.

So if SPP is going to be like Saleen and Roush and not have any restricted parts that's fine just let us know so we the owners don't feel hung out to try when these parts come up for sale. It would also help potential future owners make a better informed decision on the car they buy.

I for one will never again waist my money on a car with a dash plaque and will never again recommend to anyone that they do the same. As a wise man once said it is not the name that makes a car great.

On a side note I really like the look of the 2012 GT350. When is SPP going to start selling those body pieces?

Yes I was once fond of that Kool-Aid myself. How does that explain all the parts that SPP sells.

At this point it doesn't matter anymore, and I don't even need or expect an answer. I am just looking forward to being able to clone a 50th GT350. Perhaps we could get a group together and request some parts.

IMHO - it is none of anyone's business how SPP chooses to conduct business and airing out opinions on this forum about how people disagree with their business decisions is getting old.... In addition, I don't get why KR owners feel so wronged about a part that is being sold on the open market which is basically a 5 + year old part sitting on a shelf with a very limited market to sell to. How is this harming you personally in any way? Does it diminish the value of your car? NO. Does it lessen the pedigree of the KR? NO. They obviously have enough of these splitters that have been sitting around that a decision to unload some old stock was made. If you honestly believe they would hold a stock of KR parts forever in case something happens to your car, consider the business model. That makes no business sense whatsoever. :club:

I realize my opinion doesn't mean much and normally I would empathize more with the KR owner's plight, but after a recent disappointment in the KR forum where I was attempting to have an objective conversation about the differences between the KR and the stock GT500 and I was met with unprecedented egos and closed minded responses...... I really don't give a crap. If you want control of all the remaining KR parts, buy them up and sell them yourself. Otherwise consider this a deep discount on what you state was a $3000 part. Happy shopping. :spend:

Hey viper where did you get that SS splitter. I sure wish I could get one but no one seems to sale them anymore.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that these aren't old stock. They are building new ones. It seems they didn't have any real SS splitters anywhere in their building. So they had to use a KR splitter as a mold. Then they just called it an SS splitter and wham..... Fresh new stock of SS splitters ready for sale.

As I said I don't care what they sale anymore. Just have some decency to be upfront about it.

Buy a spare now if you're that concerned.... its on sale.

Oh yeah.... I apologize in advance for swimming in the Elite KR Pool. Wouldn't want Real One to chime in aggressively again and accuse me of peeing in it. "NOT HERE. NOT IN THE KR FORUM"... I'm just a lowly GT500 owner. ;)

Don't worry about it viper I am on your side. What is the point of a KR anyways. $36,000 for a couple of dash plaques. What a bunch of suckers.

Viper I am serious. Where are those SS splitters on sale at. You know the SS splitters that look like SS splitters. I want one of those. Not the SS splitter that looks like a KR splitter.

I think the KR is great and never said otherwise.... Now show me the business case where it makes sense to hang on to a bunch of old parts for a very limited market who may or may not buy them. And yes I agree they have a picture of a KR splitter. Here is a 2009 SS splitter:

Yeah did you buy that splitter from SPP or someone else.

Viper they are not old parts. They are making them from a KR splitter mold. So I can't be upset they are not real KR splitters they are just made from a mold of a real KR splitter. I mean come on the real KR splitters still cost $3,000+. These are SS splitters they are selling for $900.

As far making business sense to hold on to old items. As I said I don't care what they sale. Just be upfront about it. I mean are they not restricting any parts anymore or just KR parts. Are the GT350 parts still restricted? If they are will they become unrestricted in 2 more years? Just be straight with me that's all I ask.

I think the KR is great too. I just feel like a dum a** for paying $36,000 for the package. You took the smarter route friend and that's no bullsh*t.

It amazes me how some of you feel the need to come to the KR forum and bash our cars...and now us..."suckers", really? It's apparent to me that you have no life or just a unhappy one perhaps?

If you paid more attention and read some of the other forums you'd realize that these are not original KR splitters, but a close replica. I for one could care less if KR parts are sold on the open market or if someone even decides to clone a KR, not my business. Some of you need to find a better hobby and quit bitching about something that doesn't even concern you.

AK.

AK

I am sorry you feel that way. I did not intend to bash you or your car or any KR owners. I am happy you recently bought your KR. I certainly love my KR and am looking forward to making a 50th GT350 clone in the future.

A close replica. Yes I know did you read my posts? Maybe you should read my posts again.

No gas needed AK. I am in no way upset about anything. At this point it is just a very long running joke.

I would however like to know when the restriction on restricted parts ends. Is there a set time frame or is it just done on the fly? Also when the restriction is lifted how many people would we need in the group for the 2012 GT350 parts to be made again.

Should I ask that question on the other thread?

It's real simple to me. If you make a representation that certain parts are restricted to certain cars have the integrity to live up to the representation.

Period.

One good thing, If I bust my CF splitter on my KR I'll buy the $900 exact replacement for the "SS" instead of paying them $3000.00 for the other identical one that's in the KR bin.

SAI, I mean really...

Sheesh.

Wait a second....

Weren't the genuine KR Carbon Fiber splitters made by Plasan and weren't they 100% Carbon Fiber?

If Shelby American is making these I'll put money on it that they aren't 100% CF but are fiberglass with a CF outer skin (like TruFiber makes).

That would explain the price difference and the name difference.

Apples/Oranges.....

I paid 30K for my KR last October. It had 28K miles on it. It was a better deal than a regular GT500, so why wouldn’t I buy the KR over a GT500?

When I asked about buying the SS carbon fiber rockers for my KR about a week ago, they told me they would sell me a set. He said they are actually the trufiber models…

I purchased aftermarket carbon fiber side rockers for my KR a few years back. I think I paid $500 total for the pair. Looking to scoop up a carbon fiber splitter (as a spare) but don't want to pay $900 for one. I remember seeing SS splitters going for $300 ?? Dunno, maybe I'm wrong on that.

As far As Gt350 parts, SA made a commitment that only replacement parts to actual GT350 owners. It may be that there are only so many parts made or they want to maintain the exclusivity of the SA built car. I am not sure if the same commitment was ever made to KR owners. Maybe it was made to Shelby Raptor or Shelby 1000 owners, as those vehicles are also SA product, unlike the Ford SVT built Shelby GT500 KR. I only state this for discussion, not to n=be argumentative.

I think the KR owners were told the same (commitment that only replacement parts to actual KR owners) and that's why a lot are upset now seeing KR only parts being sold to just anyone.

I know when I purchased an extra set of 18" Alcoa KR rims and the brake master cylinder cap, I had to prove I was a KR owner(via copy of vehicle registration with VIN #)

A exclusive SAI made vehicle with replacement parts only for the owners of that vehicle. Wow what a great idea. I bet that would sale like hot cakes.

Was the Raptor parts exclusive.... Nope

The Shelby Focus.....Nope

The Shelby 1000..... Nope

The GT350..... Sure is

The KR........ Sure was

You always need to look at on the bright side of things. I mean we still have the hood right? SPP hasn’t made a copy of the hood yet. Let me think a very similar design, made by a different manufacturer, using a slightly different technique. Hmmmmm. Well I guess we still have the dash plaques. I love my exclusive KR worth every bit of the $36,000 package price.

I have no problem with GT350 parts for my future clone that are a very similar design, made by a different manufacturer and using slightly different techniques. I am sure the GT350 guys would be happy to hear that SPP was selling such parts so I could honor their cars with my clone.

We should start a poll. I too would like some knock off 350 parts. One way or another, it seems it will only be a matter of time before they become available. EVERYTHING becomes available eventually from SPP.
