KR_Mac
Hello All, Just picked up my new Black exterior with Black and Brick Red interior… Awesome truck!!! Breaking it in slowly but its fun to have even breaking it in. Man I want to step on it and I can't say how much fun I'm already having in it like my KR. This is one BAD A$$ truck to have. Anyone recommend anything that I should do to it? or something to look out for? Any thoughts would be great cause as far as I know it works just as fine

ShelbyKR664
Congrats on the Raptor. I am currently saving up for one. I agree with the fun factor. I drove one and liken it to driving my KR. The power is incredible. Did your dealer mention anything about future Raptors? I am guessing they will change the motor and go to the lighter aluminum body in the future. You need to post pics of your vehicles together! Enjoy!
supersnake junkie
Congrats on your new Raptor!! They are without a doubt one of the best Trucks out there! I have had 2 now (super cab 2010& crew cab 2012) Both were awesome, but you can do tons of upgrades or a few! Most you probably won't want or need do,but a few are great add ons. The first would be a levelling kit for the front suspension,Ford has a kit available or you can go aftermarket, try Stage 3 for example. You can add on great lights, light bars etc, etc. My last add on and ultimate favourite that I did last April was to have a Roush 590 hp(Sorry Shelby!) supercharger installed!!! OMG,that is amazing, believe me!!! It pulls like a Steam train and more!!! Need I say more! jnf
Phil, I read on FRF.com that there is a TSB that voids the warranty if the perch adjustment has been done. Is this true?? Not that I am concerned as there are plenty of great aftermarket parts available when stock stuff breaks.

2010KonaBlueGT
Phil, I read on FRF.com that there is a TSB that voids the warranty if the perch adjustment has been done. Is this true?? Hmm. I've never heard anything like that and I can't see how a simple 1" adjustment would void your entire vehicle warranty. Maybe the front CV joint or something like that but the entire warranty??? Do you know what section that TSB is in? I'll go take a look at it if you can point me to it. FWIW, a Technical Service Bulletin is just that. A bulletin on a SERVICE that needs to be done. Not a RECALL, that is only done if there is a safety issue with the vehicle. Just some kind of service that is "highly recommended" to be done by the dealer. So I don't think it's possible for a TSB to void the warranty. Perhaps a announcement by FoMoCo but not a TSB. Phill
jnf
Just found it. TSB44422. Says that the front and rear shocks on the Raptor are non-adjustable. I am not computer literate enough to lift and paste it here, but got the number. I understand the TSB protocol, and was scratching my head when I read it. Curious to see what you are able to find out on it. Thanks

You would probably get that kinda info. from the Raptor forum. On the front Fox shock there is a blue collar which reveals 3 adjustment levels. Shock and spring are removed and the shock is compressed to make the adjustment accordingly. That is the non-technical version.

I am not computer literate enough to lift and paste it here, but got the number. I understand the TSB protocol, and was scratching my head when I read it. Curious to see what you are able to find out on it. Thanks Can you cut/paste the URL to the TSB? Technically, the SHOCKS are not adjustable. It's the spring perch you are adjusting on the coil-over shock. As the next poster says, there are three snap ring grooves you can use. The OEM setting is on the highest (lowest vehicle height) and you have two more to use above it. The first one gives you 1" higher and only requires you adjust the Toe. The third/highest requires Toe and Camber to be adjusted. The second/middle groove levels the truck, from what I understand. The rear shocks aren't coil-over so NO, no adjustment on them. You can use larger blocks, I've seen it done on a Raptor. Point me to where I can put that TSB number in and I'd still like to see what it says. Thanks again, Phill
jnf
From frf.com : I've mentioned before that the ability to adjust the perch setting on the OE front shocks was an "Easter Egg" given to us by SVT and Fox, but I didn't recommend having this modification performed at a Ford dealership. If you have the perch height modification performed at a Ford dealership, they're going to have a record of it in your service history and it will make it easier for Ford Motor Company to deny a warranty claim, specifically for any front suspension/driveline related part.Ford Motor Company has caught wind of the mod and released the following TSB (Technical Service Bulletin):TSB SSM 44422 - EFFECTIVE 2/14/2014:2010-2014 F-150 Raptor only - the front and rear shock absorber assemblies are non-adjustable. Attempting to make adjustments to the front and rear shock absorber assemblies will alter the ride height and suspension control outside of factory design specifications. Refer to Warranty and policy manual for alter vehicle policies.I do recommend setting your truck on mid-perch for improved off road handling characteristics because I feel that the positives of the mod far outweigh the negatives, but people who are going to do it should be aware that the increase in suspension angles as a result of the mod will slightly increase the wear on your CV joints, ball joints, tie rods, and UCA/LCA frame pivot bushings. Now, more than ever because of the new TSB, there's a chance it could give you warranty grief in the future. Many of us know that most Ford service departments don't even know that the front OE Raptor shocks have an adjustable perch setting. Use that to your advantage and have the modification done somewhere else other than the dealer. If they don't know the mod exists, they're probably not going to notice that the truck isn't on the stock setting when you take it to the dealer for service/warranty. jnf
That came from frf.com Under the TSB and recall section. Guess I am not so computer stupid after all. And yes, the mid setting levels the truck perfectly. Does require an alignment for "toe" adjustment. Also rides better and doesn't dive as much during braking. The whole process is relatively simple. supersnake junkie
If the mid perch adjustment is as simple and effective,I wonder why Ford and many other aftermarket companies sell levelling kits for them? Just wondering!

DubbsFaris
While the Fox shocks do have 3 "settings", they are not intended on the raptor to be adjusted. We asked this specific question to Jamal Hameedi, and his answer was straight forward and made perfect sense- In a nut shell, if you change to mid perch or top perch, while you are gaining a bit of clearance, the main drawbacks are that it changes the amount of travel the shocks have and were specifically designed for on the raptor platform. In addition, changes to the height affect many other suspension and drivetrain joints and alignments. That said- I moved to mid perch, and I have no regrets. The truck handles and rides the same, and I have over 82k miles on it. If you do it, get it aligned immediately. Another thing to address- Raptor future. I know for a fact SVT has a raptor ready to go on the new platform. Has the decision been made by management to approve it? I dont think so at this point, but thats not a concern. 1 of every 7 F150s at Rouge is a Raptor, so I doubt they intend to cancel a bread and butter trim that makes more money than any other trim they offer. The 6.2 is dead- gone, and book closed. If you want one in that configuration, get the 2014 while you can. I intend to wait for the 2016 version, (I believe Ford will skip at least one year to work out the new chassis bugs) My 2011 will be paid off, and I'll be ready to get the next one and have both gens! I honestly expect the 5.0 to be the replacement for the 6.2. They have nearly identical output, and the 5.0 will get an extra mpg or two with the weight savings. Back to OP- Phil and a couple others pointed you to FordRaptor.com and it is the best resource for raptors and mods. Most of us are on there as well. Im not steering you away from TeamShelby, but knowledge is the goal, and raptor traffic is just so much higher there than here. Many of us 2013+ GT500 owners go to SVTPerformance for the exact same reason. Some forums have better participation in certain areas than others. You would think there would be a walmart of forums, but the mentality is that most people like to congregate to smaller groups I think. Good luck, and great raptor combo- the one I would get if I was buying btw.

He should know better. It does NOT change the amount of travel. A 14" shock is still a 14" shock, no matter what the spring pre-load setting is. It will reduce the amount of extension travel you have but in exchange you will gain compression travel. All you're doing by changing the shock spring perch setting is, raising the curb height of the vehicle so if you raise it 1", you will reduce the extension by 1" but gain 1" of travel in compression. If the change in perch height (spring pre-load) creates spring bind, then that's a whole different matter. Phill

Im not looking to get into a semantic argument with you. I think you are looking for an inaccuracy in a statement that you agree with. Whether you gain in one direction and lose in another, there is still a change. Like I state in my very next point, I went to mid perch and highly recommend it. A Ford employee probably would not be encouraging that. There is no surprise in that statement to me. 2010KonaBlueGT
Phill, so how would that not "change" travel? Im not looking to get into a semantic argument with you. I think you are looking for an inaccuracy in a statement that you agree with. You left out a important part of your quote using creative editing there, Warren. This is not about semantics, it's about accuracy. You said (that Jamal said)"; "it changes the amount of travel". Note the word, AMOUNT. That is a copy/paste from your comment in post #27. It does NOT change the amount of travel. It simply centers the internal piston in a different location within the shock. It actually gives you more *compression* travel (the important part of suspension travel for taking bumps and jumps) but admittedly at the cost of extension travel. And it's not a 1:1 ratio (e.g. 1" of lift does not equate to 1" of travel or "change") due to the shock angle. Is Jamal's statement on SVTP? I'd love to see what else he has to say about the 'issue'.
