David Hawkins
This evening I went to the Cruise In at the Hardee’s in Crawfordville and then I stopped by the Cruise In at the What-A-Burger on Thomasville Rd (in Tallahassee). The Bad News is, while at the What-A-Burger, someone in a Toyota Corolla backed into the front of my Mustang. At least the damage is minor and only the Front Bumper needs repainting. The big question is, can this get done before the big Mustang Show in Pensacola (3 weeks away)……………….. I HATE TOYOTA'S.

gtup1
C mon man it's not the Toyota's fault it's the inept driver of the Toyota, if it were another Mustang we wouldn't say I hate Mustangs! I feel for you no matter what backed into you. The Govt is so involved in our life's where they shouldn't be, why don't they do something about cell phones and distracted drivers. I'm glad the damage wasn't to bad, the first scrape is always the worst, it your hurts to your heart that someone else's carelessness hurt your baby. ViperNC
I feel your pain. Been there except my car was backed into by a sweet old lady driving her Cadillac land yacht less than 1 month after I bought my car. It was everything I could muster from within to be kind to her as she was clearly upset and embarrassed. The good news is that front bumper covers are easy to replace and at least there was not other damage. Good luck getting your ride fixed quickly. Helix
The intelligence of the suckers that buy the Toyotas, but I won't get started on that one. ( Although you didn't mention new or what-not). Any hit on your car is terrible, but seriously: ouch. Sorry to hear. Hopefully the damage was, shall I say, contained enough to get through this as smoothly and calmly as possible. David Hawkins
It was a 2011 Toyota. Now my Car has become a Target. Almost got T-Boned at a 4 Way Stop this morning by a Chevy Malibu and the Guy in the Malibu was angry at ME, for going first, after all, I had Stopped at my Stop Sign while he was still rolling up to his. The funny thing is, so far BOTH vehicles are Silver.

supersnake junkie
Don't you just love the wonderful standard of driving of a lot of people these days, especially when they are in the wrong and they scream at you!!!! Let's put some more technology in our vehicles so future driving tests are about what you can do with it while your vehicle is in motion and see if you might be able to fit in a little time for actual driving while in motion!! That being the new standard we can just park our vehicles at the closest body shop just in case!!! Lol!
1.21Gigawatts
I hate Toyotas too !! LOL... Got my Gt500 in October and was hit on the way home from the dealership by a douche in a blue toyota tacoma who told the cop that I was driving too slow in my hot rod...He was tailgating me for 7 miles until he was driving into the side of my car trying to pass me in too small of a gap. Wanted to kill him, in the end my car was fixed, and I am waiting on a settlement from his insurance for my medical bills and devaluation of my investment etc...While I was at my insurance broker going over the repair estimate a lady backed her BMW into the back end of my parked car...so I understand the target feeling...She was very apologetic, and said her husband will kill her cause they just got the car back from the body shop from her hitting someone else... She paid cash since the repair was $700. I am hoping that we both got this out of the way early, and we can go on and enjoy our passion for these cars without further incident... Not sure I can handle another double whammy like that, i almost seriously had a friggin heart attack over the whole process. Good luck and dont sweat it too much if possible, easier said than done though... Matt

I have the two big shows in April, Pensacola & Charlotte. I want to make sure I can make those. To cover the damage, I plan to have a custom Decal printed that will look like a Personalized License Plate since the damage is in the center of the Bumper. rdrawkit
Because of so many intersection crashes(light or no lights) we all run with dash cams now. A friend got into a punch up and was charged due to the other guys passengers evidence.... When he went to police with his lawyer and cam chip all charges were reversed and passengers fined for falsifying evidence in a police investigation......Dash cams YAAAA
supersnake junkie
I'm seeing and hearing more and more of dash cams being used. As you have stated they can certainly help in those kind of situations. You should go onto YouTube and search crazy car crashes, there is loads there but the most interesting ones are the Eastern Europeans who do not seem to have any idea whatsoever that there is anybody else on the road but them!!!! It's scary to see the dumbest manoeuvres that they do,based on that I think their driving tests and licences just arrive via the mail when they reach a certain age!!!! She was recording the Stop on her Phone and when she told the Cop she was recording this, he told her to turn it off, she refused and he arrested. Charges were droped and she is now suing. http://www.storyleak.com/woman-thrown-jail-legally-recording-traffic-stop/
David Hawkins
I just got an estiment on the Bumper............. $550.00 + Rental Car. Since it will take 3 Days, I am thinking about letting them remove the Bumper Cover and taking the car and then when they are ready to re-install the Bumper, taking the car back and let them install it while I wait. They said that it would not be a problem to do that if I want.

thewheelman
It wasn't a Prius, please tell me it wasn't a Prius! If so, it's the attack of the hybrid zombies! I saw one cruise through the parking lot the other day......Prius, nasty, really, really nasty, I'm talking mud to the mirrors and all over the car--with a mountain bike on the rack behind it. I'm thinking, that's the complete opposite of me....in every way! If I ever got on a mountain bike again the seat would have to be surgically removed! Sorry about the car, it can always be fixed......that's what I tell myself anyway! Enjoy!

ITHERTZ66
Most body shops are terrible places to leave your car. They are simply the most dirty, dusty places imaginable. If you ever leave a car there you love for repair ask them to "bag it" while it's there or you will be cleaning for weeks when you get it back. Shortly after having my entire Shelby repainted with a perfect show quality paint job, I was the victim of serious rock damage from a truck in front of me on the highway. It sounded like a hail storm and I couldn't avoid it, and in 2-3 seconds my car suffered over 3K in damages to my hood, fascia, fenders, windshield and even the rear spoiler! I was so pissed off - I couldn't even stand to look at my car I was so disgusted. At least the insurance company paid to return my car back to the way it was. Jer
A guy backed into my SGT right after I got it. Wrecked the front bumper paint and stripe. He was gonna drive away, but one of my coworkers calmly walked up, wrote down his license plate number, then asked him if he really wanted to leave, or perhaps he should step inside to meet me? He gave me his license to get his info, but had no insurance card (mandatory to carry in NY). I told him it would be an issue for him when the cops showed up for a report, and he said "I'm a retired cop, I know everyone, I don't care". I handed him his license and told him to go away and never come back to my store again. It was the best thing I could do, I was starting to get a bit heated. Jer Being a Retired Cop would not have stopped me....... I cussed out the Head of the Florida Highway Patrol because of how one of his Troopers treated me when my 1998 Mustang was rear ended. The Stang was the Prototype for the Tribute Edition Shelby Package that Carroll had me build to get the Contract. The damage was just the rear Bumper Cover. The Trooper looked at it and told the Driver of the Semi that hit me that he should have just tossed me $100 and gone on Damage was over $650 Plus Car Rental. I got super pissed and because I said a cuss word in front of him, he threatened to arrest me with Assult. The next day, I found out that the Insurance that he had was canceled 6 months earlier. I went to get a copy of the Report and saw where the Tag on the Semi was expired by over a Year and the Tag on the Trailer was expireed over 2 Years, NO Tickets were given............ that was when I raised mega hell. That's not what stopped me. The fact that my mind quickly flashed to a scene of violence and massive negative reaction actually forced me to stop, consider whether it was worth going to jail for (because he was certainly going to be injured), then remember the old adage: "The main difference between humans and other animals is that we have a 'waiting room' between stimulus and response called 'free will'. That, and we eat with cutlery." I learned an important lesson from Joey Kramer, Aerosmith's drummer: When confronted with someone who is negative, ignorant, mean, or disrespectful, it's better to sympathize than react. That person has a serious defect they have to live with, and *I* don't. I feel bad for them, and I don't let their negativity change the person I want to be. If I were to watch a surveillance camera of the confrontation later, would I be proud of myself? Better to stay classy, and if I can walk away with the important stuff (my self-respect, safety, and humanity) intact, I'm already ahead.
