ITHERTZ66
Does anybody know if there are any differences among the parts and installation between the 2006 GT-H and the later 2007 and 2008 SGT? I'm wondering if parts and installation hardware are 100% interchangeable among the models across these years? Thanks,
JeffIsHereToo
My understanding is that they are TOTALLY interchangeable but that's a question you can call and ask Ford Racing. (800) ford788 There were some differences with the CAI box but the package, as far as I know, was the same. Post back if you find differently! 2007tungstenGT500
the earlier version is 90mm, while the later is 85mm.
JeffJ
Yes, they are a bit different. The box is different, and the tune is different. I do believe that the 07-08's are the same. Edited March 25, 2014 by JeffJ

2007tungstenGT500
oops... my mistake. i should read more carefully. the 2006-2008 shelby gt-h/gt's are identical and use the steeda-developed, ford racing 90mm cold-air kit with metal shroud, which has long-since been discontinued. towards the end of that run, ford developed a revised 85mm kit with a plastic shroud that debuted on the bullit mustang in 2008. couldn't really tell you if the tune file itself is different, between the two ford racing kits, especially since the later 85mm kit could be purchased for a standard mustang GT, the same way the earlier 90mm kit could. you can call ford racing performance parts technical support line to get an answer. however, there were some changes from the 2006-2008 shelby GT (mustang GT) to the 2008-2009 bullitt in terms of hardware, which does require a different tune. namely, a different harmonic balancer and an increased RPM limit (6,500 instead of 6,000) and revised cam timing. also, the bullitt had a tune that compensated for different octane levels. so that tune used in the bullitt with that 85mm kit is definitely different than the tune file used with the 90mm kit in the shelby gt. JeffJ
The metal shroud is a bit different for the 2006. The metal itself I believe is the same, but with the hood difference, the material used to form the barrier between the hood and the shroud changed. There was an additional seal used on the 2006 CAI to form the seal to the hood. I'll have to dig some pictures out now...... Kevin Patten
The "Shelby GT" came with the Steeda based 90mm CAI which was carried from the GT-H model in 2006 through the Shelby GT 2008 model. There were 2 styles of metal heat shrouds. The plastic molded 84mm CAI never came on a Shelby only on the 2008 - 2009 Mustang GT "Special Edition Bullitt" models and is the one being offered by FRPP as an aftermarket kit. The tunes , design , materials used , air filter elements , everything is different between the 2 different CAI setups.
