chuckstang
I always planned to try painting my hood vents since I will have no stripes and I wanted to know if anyone else had tried this? Im worried now that I am hearing the plastic is warping on some cars that the paint will bubble over time. Where is the best place to buy an extra set of hood vents from? I want to get an extra set to paint, that way I do not ruin my originals. Although, once you take the vents off, can they be reused or do they get destroyed? thanks, sorry for all the questions! You can also buy aftermarket aluminum vents from Shelby.

Our body shop removes them to paint stripes on. Like the other post said, you can order them through any Ford parts department.

chuckstang
Are you planning a color match to your car? Yup, I ordered Black stripe delete and think the hood would look even nicer with the vents painted. If you look at the vents on the KR, you will notice those are painted as well, it seems that most nice cars with vents like those either use aluminum like SAI's or painted like the KR, Viper and so on. TexasShelby
if heats a problem....couldn't you get a set of metal ones and powder coat them black?
chuckstang
I know you could just order them through any local Ford dealer but aren't there vendors on here or other special Ford dealerships that sell OEM Ford parts for less than the normal msrp price for parts? I want to say gene evans Ford was one I ordered some Ford Racing parts from in the past but I forget, just curious. I figure they would be cheap but you never know since they are specific to the GT500. I plan on ordering an extra chin spoiler as well to paint black, I just want to keep the originals, this is why I want to order an extra of each :D I also have thought about getting the Ford Racing aluminum mesh wire grilles for the front and hood vents and then paint them black but as far as I know they are not available and Im not sure if that would look good or a bit too much rach mesh! haha

chuckstang
I have always wondered if the front splitter is actually functional. I would think it would need to be larger like the 00 R to add any downforce. Someone should do some high speed runs with it on and off and report back...perhaps I will if it is easy to remove :D

Someone should do some high speed runs with it on and off and report back...perhaps I will if it is easy to remove :D The front air splitter is functional. Also....under the car there are air deflectors mounted to channel the air. There was some engineering done on this. You did'nt think this was just a pretty car did you. :P
