SVT Superfest 2014

Virginia International Raceway

May 23-25, 2014 - Danville, VA

Three days of full course action at VIR…don’t miss the best HPDE weekend event of the year!

What is so important about May 23-25, 2014? This is the weekend the SCMC will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary as the premier Mustang Cobra, Shelby and Boss club in the US. The event will be held at the world class facility of Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA. It will be three days of open track on the full course, a SVT and Mustang show including all Fords, and a Saturday evening banquet with guest speaker. Other arrangements are being made for Special SVT vehicles to be in attendance. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a historic event.

If you like to drive fast and not have to worry about getting a ticket, then the SCMC has something to ease your adrenaline pain. The Superfest includes three days on the 3.27 mile NEWLY REPAVED AND WIDENED full course where you can reach speeds in excess of 140 mph all in a safe, controlled environment. Instructors will be available and you do not need any special equipment to run on track over the weekend. Every year we have some Ford/SVT pro drivers doing charity laps all day long, so you can pay to catch a ride and feel the excitement of going around the track at speed all the while making a donation to a worthy cause. Last year, it was for the Susan G Komen foundation.

Be sure to mark your calendars and save the date -- May 23-25, 2014!

NO offense intended, but they are asking too much for the weekend. I can get on VIR with the BMW and Porsche crowd for a full Saturday and Sunday for $435 and I don't have to pay additional money to become a member of a club. VIR is a fun track, but $525 for two days + additional club fees is excessive. Tony needs to drop his price and the attendee list would grow. Is he pocketing the difference? If the "rich boys" and their high dollar German engineering can go to the track and duplicate this event for less, I wonder where the excess money goes?

"You must be a member of one of the following clubs in order to participate on track at this event, SCMC, SVTOA, or TCUSA."

Three days on track- $595.00
Two days on track - $525.00
One day on track - $275.00
Hyperdrive - $60.00
Car Show Only - $20.00
Event tee, poster, and parade laps - $30.00
Saturday Night banquet with guest speaker - $35.00
Event Participant - $20.00
Friday Night Social - $15.00 (Pay at track)

Appreciate the feedback, but I have never been to any organized track event that gives as much track time at the SCMC....not even close! My last event there I got over 4 hours on track on just one day...that's as much as the Porsche club gives you over a two-day event! And the list of prices that you included are a menu of all possibilities/options and they do not include the early registration discount. I have no plans to do the car show or the hyperdrive so I don't include that in my cost. The dinner functions are also optional. Don't want to eat with the group....you are welcome to dine elsewhere. FYI...track rental rates went up $1,000/day for 2014 with the new surface, the club membership is a whopping $20/year, no participant fee for driver and parade laps are free for those doing HPDE. All-in-all $595 (- $70 discount) is a pretty awesome deal for three days of open track.

OK.. I'll concede that 4 hours of track time in one day is very good. Typically we run six 30 minute sessions starting at 9:00 AM with three sessions before lunch and 3 after for a total of 3 hours of track time in a day. My tires are usually getting a little sloppy by then. Maybe the clarity you have provided will gather more interest. I'll discuss with my wife and get back with you.

Just to confirm the real cost...with the $70 early booking discount, three days of open track and full access is only $525 -- that $175 per day....less then the Porsche club on a per day rate. Can't beat that! The club also has consistently donated $3k - $5k every year to various charities.

Track opens at 6am. Lunchtime parade laps and Shelby photos start at 12pm. You can also sign up for a one session hyper drive for $60....30 minutes on track with an instructor. Need to get car thru tech inspection if you want to do that and will need a helmet. FYI...there are more then 120 cars already signed up for the weekend...gonna be a blast!

Novice and Intermediate run groups are sold out! Still some room left in hyper drive (one 30-minute session) and more experience run groups. Guess people finally got around to checking the weather and signing up
