trevor08gt
Anyone else seen or head anything about this? http://m.autoblog.com/2013/12/17/more-evidence-gt500-replacement-named-gt350/
John Canfield
Yeah, this was put up on the Mustang6g site a few days ago.
mywickedshelby
what Ive heard is its coming directly from Ford like the GT500 did starting in the model year 2016.......
JeffJ
I'm fairly certain it will be a 50th anniv. 2015 model from Ford.
mikeljgt500kr
Let's hope Ford has learned its' lesson and does a better job than the last time they attempted a GT350 that was not a Shelby: Edited December 18, 2013 by mikeljgt500kr
DubbsFaris
The original plan Ford has was a 2015 late release, but then, the original plan for the regular mustang was to have them rolling off the assembly line in April. So with the standard editions not hitting dealers until July or August, I can't see the 350 coming out before January. ....the wrinkle is that Ford COULD push back the MY to actually reflect the Calendar year. As it stands, the 2014 GT500 is done, and its 9 month build plan will end before 2013. So if there is ANY Ford model that can absorb a delayed start, the mustang could conceivably be delayed at least 9 months without taking a marketing lick. The apparent benefactors of that move would likely be those of us with a GT500 like new. I can foresee a demand for our cars in about 4 months if the new SVT won't be available for 12-18 months. New GT500s will be long gone by Spring.
mikeljgt500kr
What predictions are you making for ADMs for the 2014 GT500s Dubbs? Maybe $25-$30K?
DubbsFaris
The short answer is- Who knows? But, If dealers get the chance to cash in on Ford's lack of build information, then yes, 20k+ If Ford builds a GT350 for 4 or 5 years, and we can find that out, then I think ADM opportunities will be rare, and only the unscrupulous dealer who takes advantage of a customer "not in the know" will get hit with that. If this is truly a one year special build, and Ford introduces it that way, then all bets are off. I could see that get pretty crazy. My guess is Ford will build a GT350 for 5-7 years though since the GT500 was such a big seller for Ford. It makes sense and is a logical transition. But they could decide the GT350 should mirror the BOSS builds, and maybe do a 2 year run. Ford has a lot of options, and I think they will likely not set anything in stone. Remember, the GT500 was initially planned as a 3 year run that got a 4 year extension. Ford will tell you the way it went was the plan the whole time, but I know for a fact there was a plan to bring a S197 SVT King Cobra, and it got shelved for the popular GT500. That could still see the light of day too somewhere down the road.
mikeljgt500kr
I would love a street version of their Cobra Jet, now that I would buy.

Aren't most of the 2014 GT500s already sold? I don't believe there have been huge ADMs on them. I've seen where some people got theirs for MSRP or less. The short answer is- Who knows? 07SGT
Ford is going to have to do something to remain competitive in the HP war. Dodge will have 650+ next year, Chevy will probably be in the 600+ range so Ford can't count on a GT 350 NA with only 420+ HP. Even if they make a vehicle for the road race fans (GT 350) they will still need something for the drag race and stop light Gran Prix fans. I think they will need more than a SC'd 5.0 to come over 600 + HP. It is all about bragging rights.
DubbsFaris
Al, I looked right past 2014 GT500- I saw it as 2015 GT350, but yeah, you are right, there are few 2014s left. Production has already stopped. I was addressing the 350 Mike, if you mean next spring an odd 2014 still left laying around a dealer? That is a different story. If I were up north as a dealer, and I had one, I would eat the cost of keeping in inventory until next spring, because I believe the last few new left on a lot might actually get pretty desireable if the 2015 either: A. Doesnt release a performance trim. B. The performance trim doesnt come close to the 2014 GT500 performance. (Which wont happen in HP, but perhaps thats the whole point) Aren't most of the 2014 GT500s already sold? I don't believe there have been huge ADMs on them. I already know of a few dealers reportedly hoarding the 2014 GT500s they have just received or will soon receive to "hedge" the market a bit. Who knows, they did it with the '08-'09 KRs. Not even sure the GT 350 will be Coyote powered. Lots of talk of a new motor. May not be the same as Crapmaro or Challenged but the weight wil help make up with that. Don't forget, there may be a Mach 1 as well, who knows
DubbsFaris
I have heard from several sources that the GT350 will be somewhere between 520-550 HP naturally aspirated.

That would be a perfect platform for SAI to do what they do best and upgrade that lower performance with a supercharger to 650++. Voila, the Shelby GT350R. svttim
Have to remind some of you, he GT350 R model from 65 had no supercharger. Not to be offensive to anyone here, in my eyes, there was no R model after that. Carrolls legacy was built on the road courses of the world. Superchargers generally dont fair well in that venue. Naturally aspirated cars fair much better and Turbo's do extremely well. Street cars are a blast with a supercharger. But R stands for race, not street. mikeljgt500kr
What you say is a common way to look at it, however, I have a good friend who has a '65 "R" model. He drag raced it extensively from day 1, and after a year or so put a Paxton SC on it. He won every race in his class before and after the SC upgrade. I think he might argue with you about the "R"s being road course only cars and R standing for race excluding drag race…. SGT3131
FYI for anyone interested, Rusty Eck Ford in Wichita Kansas has 2014 500 with all options, nice dark red with white strips, really a nice car. List is 67K and change. It can be bought for list and may be bought for 1000 or so off list. Just wanted to pass along for anyone looking. There is no need to pay over list for these cars as several here have sold for list or a little less. Take Care, -Billy
