mikeljgt500kr
Interesting SVT Cobra thingy. But I'm guessing it won't say Shelby GT350, SVT GT350 probably.
Inactive Account 2
I do believe that second photo, the GT350 is a photoshop, something about the color reflection is seriously off to me,

JeffJ
Those are both photo shops but pretty cool and show what can be done with the new car. There are also a few shots out there of a Mach 1 done up by that same Hilburn person. Edited December 9, 2013 by JeffJ

shack
I'd like to see a Mach 1 myself. Also, doesn't SVT usually take about 2 years to ramp up on a new design? Current generation came out in 2005 and first Shelby GT500 was 2007.

DubbsFaris
Yeah, the licensing was signed in 2012 for this. If Ford doesn't put the Shelby name on it, they spent a heck of a sum of money for nothing. With the success of the GT500, I don't see that being squandered. Jeff is right. It will be a 2016 release from everything I have picked up on. In fact, it was supposed to be a late summer announcement, but that was when the new mustang was scheduled to roll off assembly lines early spring. We won't see a s550 now until late summer, so my guess is LA auto show or NAIAS 2015. Order banks for 2016 would open march, and would allow a solid 9 months of 2015 orders without the new SVT taking away from GT sales. Detroit makes sense, and 6 weeks of performance junkies boiling over to order one. It'll be just like 2006 again. Dealers telling us how it will be a "special" limited production car.... Ah, the cycle of ignorance is a grand and nerve racking thing.

MMcGuirk
Through activities with Shelby, attending auctions, Monterey etc., some of us have become friendly with people at Ford. When posed with the question about the next Shelby and if the 350 will be branded as such, the response usually goes like this "what would you do?.....Shelby is a very important brand for Ford" I think something drastic would have to happen for a Ford Shelby GT350 not to appear. You have to believe that the specialty Mustangs are hugely profitable for Ford ( the Boss brought $12k more than a base Mustang GT with track pack - that's mostly profit margin, no rebates or incentives on Bosses) Oh, and as we all know, the dealers charge ADM and usually the first 5000 of us pay it! mikeljgt500kr
I would like to hear their rationale for calling an SVT GT350 a "Shelby". Are they going to claim, like the SVT "Shelby" GT500, that old CS had "significant input" into it? There will be lots of people laughing at that if they do……. Using that logic would that mean Ford should not have built the 2012-13 Boss 302 because Shinoda passed away at least a decade before? mikeljgt500kr
As much input as he will have in the offerings of Shelby American Except that is the company he founded and it still carries his name. I'm also OK with them calling it a Ford, it is the company name that Henry founded.

Steve Did the Boss 302 carry his name? I think not, seems like they called it a "Boss 302", no? And of course they also kept calling Sting Rays, Sting Rays (or the other name, Stingray) long after Larry left too, and now brought it back. They weren't named for him either. I would think Ford's rationale would be called licensing. And a few $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Licensing deals are usually very profitable for all parties involved. Shelby sells their name to be used on a high performance Mustang and Ford makes bigger profits from that model. Win win. Any input from CS would be purely historical based on earlier models. Just my opinion of an obvious business relationship.

Effete Shelby snobs may thing this way, but there are only about a thousand of us. The vast majority of the public think any Mustang with stripes is a Shelby and for a lot of them it is their dream car. A Ford Shelby GT350 will be inspired by the Shelby Mustang legacy and will sell like hot cakes. Where do I place my order? mikeljgt500kr
I'll wait until that actually happens, not a bunch of idle speculation before anything has even been built. I am hoping they use some 4 banger "Eco-Enviro-Boosto" thingy, and put twin turbos on it and a big fat fart pipe coming out the back to please the Japanese tuner crowd….. :happy feet: BTW, I'm retired Navy F-18 jockey.
