December 9 issue of autoweek just leaked the pictures of the new base V/6 2015 mustang . Just got it in the mail 10 minutes ago . Sorry for the lousy pictures but this forum can't post from my iPad.

The GT 5.0 takes improvements introduced on the Boss 302, including it's valves, springs and forged rods . But no CNC milling of the heads. Price point issue .Ford claims it's faster on the track then the BOSS. Mostly carry over stuff from the 5.0.

The wheels look like they came off the 2014 Z51 Corvette, really !! But Ford did a better job.

Direct injection 2.3 twin turbo 4 with 305 hp. NEW NEW !!

I'm saving my comments until I see one in person.

Well, I think the back looks good with the exception of the running horse. They should keep the Faux emblem! The side view looks good, but the front looks crappy with those headlights. Sorry, but I am not impressed. At least we all have SAI that can work magic on this car. If they replace the headlights during the Shelby makeover, I would consider a Shelby Mustang.

When we got our 2008 Shelby GTs they were 320, but my recollection is that the base car was 302 (or thereabouts). So Ford's new technology with direct injection and TT is the same horsepower with 1/2 the displacement (2.3 vs 4.6). So much for "there's no replacement for displacement".

Not that I disagree that there is a lot of 370Z in the lines of the 2015, particularly around the roof line and B to C pillars but one could also say those same attributes are reminiscent of the '70 Mustang.

not true!!! peak horsepower doesn't tell the whole story....how much power is available at various engine RPMs? what is the torque rating? how much torque is available at various RPMs? plus, there's NO WAY a 2.3L 4-banger will ever sound as good as the 4.6L V8.

Sound really doesn't mean much if a twin turbo 4 cylinder outruns you in your big V8. Twin turbos typically pull like a freight train all through the power band and are relentless on the top end. That seems to be the direction of the auto industry these days including F1 for 2014.

Seems like more of a "masses" car and design which I suppose is the objective. I like it loses some of it's muscular stance from the front and side. The headlights just seem too, I don't know, copy cat. The back is ok but I agree with post #6 in that the S197 is a better looking design. Oh well, maybe it'll grow on me with time.

Your picture is folded and makes the car look shorter than it is. Here it is not folded.

Maybe it's like Mad magazine and you actually do have to fold it to see the real car?!?!

That sadi; I guess I'll start looking harder at my bank account and see about finding a 2014 Track Pack car....

I would be pretty confident that's it, and it will be successful. These photos are of the V6, so I would expect a more muscular look with the GT which Ford has claimed is quicker around a track than the BOSS.

I'm not crazy about the looks either, but I'll wait until Thursday to make my preliminary judgment and will wait until I see it in person for my final thoughts, and then I'll wait until Shelby get their hands on it before getting giddy.

I wasn't crazy about the modern GT350 when it was unveiled but after seeing it in person I love it.
