Top_Fuel
I've been looking for a front license plate bracket for my Dad's Shelby GT. I wanted something that would mount to the front of the car without drilling the front bumper cover. After some searching, I finally found a well-designed bracket. It installs in 5 minutes, no tools are needed, and it requires no drilling of any part of the car. The bracket is made of polished aluminum and includes all stainless steel hardware for mounting and attaching a license plate to it. You can even get it powder-coated. Very cool! B) HERE is a link to eBay where you can view an ad for the bracket. Here is the bracket installed on my Dad's Shelby GT... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...byGT/Plate1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...byGT/Plate2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...byGT/Plate3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...byGT/Plate4.jpg If you're wondering how it attaches to the car, take a look here... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...lbyGT/step1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...lbyGT/step2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...lbyGT/step3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/gpo...lbyGT/Step4.jpg DISCLAIMER: I have no connection to this person selling these brackets. I just know it's a good product that's worth considering if you have to run a front plate.

SCGT500
This Ebay'er is in my town, I wonder if I can see it in person? It looks like it would rub on your bumper at speed though??
Top_Fuel
...I wonder if I can see it in person? I'm sure he'd tell you where you can see his car with the plate holder installed. Send him a message through eBay. It looks like it would rub on your bumper at speed though?? That may depend upon how you mounted it. It doesn't have to be close enough to touch the bumper cover...but that's the way my dad installed his. It does have some clear rubber pads on the back side of the bracket...so if it did touch the bumper cover for some reason, it wouldn't scratch it. I think you could definitely set it up so that it wouldn't touch anything...even at speed. Before I got this plate holder, I had purchased a different style of front plater holder from another eBay seller (THIS one). This one absolutely requires that the plate be pressed against the bumper cover...so I didn't use it.
BLD MOVS
My version of a license plate bracket. 1. angle aluminum from Lowes. 2. drill 4 holes in angle aluminum. 2 for plate, 2 to attaching to car. 3. find small gray screws that attach rock deflector to lower air dam on bumper. 4. bolt it together. takes 20 min tops. works great, car stays cool, no holes drilled in car at all, and best of all-cheap! I have been looking for some alternatives to drilling and looks like you guys have already done the footwork for me. Thanks.

BLD MOVS
Is there a specific size for the angle aluminum? If you go to a major home improvement store, they should have a section with 90 degree (pre-bent) aluminum. Just like angle iron, but aluminum. The piece I bought has 1" wide sides, and is about an 1/8" thick. It came in a length of about 3 feet or so.

BLD MOVS
Thanks. I assume you were able to cut it with a hack saw to an appropriate size? yup. you got it. I guess I am not sure why people are paying someone else for this? It's pretty easy and doesn't take much time at all. Best of all you don't have to drill any holes in your car and it doesn't affect anything on it at all. let me know if you have any more questions. clark17357
Does anyone know if this bracked will be a problem with a lower billet grill installed? It will fit, I am told. I have the bracket and am waiting to get my car back from the Mod Shop and then I will know for sure. This bracket is one fine piece of work. While some may be able to get close to it by doing it themselves, for me, it made sense to have it fabriated perfectly. I will share how tough it is to install when I can. AFBLUE, be my guest to try it first. You have your lower grill already so you can check it out. Jim
mrhugger
I tried to fit the bracket on mine but it would not work with the sai installed light package so be careful. Relunctantly I had to finally drill the holes but at least I mounted a radar detector along with it. Steve

When I get the car back, I was thinking of contacting Craig Broussard, who made the bracket, and see what suggestions he has to avoid disaster. Sharp GT500
It looks like it would rub on your bumper at speed though?? I have the same concerned about it rubbing the paint. We might be able to use 3M emblem tape to hold it steady but we wouldn't be able to easily remove it for shows.
BLD MOVS
I guess I am still surprised at the number of people that haven't taken my advice on this issue that I explained in an earlier post! Obviously I don't have the lower Shelby grill or lights, so I cannot tell you if this will work or not if you have those add ons, but it literally can be done in less than 20 minutes and is a MUCH cheaper and quicker approach. I can send a parts list and many photos if needed. Just trying to save anyone some time and money which are both hard to come by these days right? My sense is that those of us who bought the bracket like how it is made. I am not suggesting your idea is not a good one, but Craig Broussard created something really special in terms of all the fine points of his fabrication. He seems to have thought of all the little ways the bracket could harm the car and has put it together to prevent that from happening. If you have not seen his creation it is hard to describe it here. The addition of the lower grill complicates things, even according to Mr. Broussard. That is why I said I would work through it all when I get my car back from the Mod Shop. Jim
Carnut12
I have the front plate law, but I went years with no plate on my BMW M3 and I am going to try to do the same with the Shelby. I might buy a bracket just in case I get pulled over. I will not drill into my front bumper.
