P2629 codes weeks after LT headers...

Well the extra HP fun factor had to come at a price... Got a P2629 code twice today. This translates to "O2 sensor positive current trim, circuit open bank 2 sensor 1".

Mod shop wants to replace both O2 sensors ($65 each no labor charges) in attempt to fix. Seems odd since car is new with 3500 miles but worth a try as warranty I'm sure will not cover this. Other post seem to indicate a extension wire used to allow for further location for sensor between stock and LT headers as possible source.

This is 100% my problem due the mod work I had done and I find it hard to believe the mod-work did NOT cause the problem... I am very happy with the sound and extra power of the mod-work so going back to stock is not an option. Is it possible that the farther sensor location on the LT headers will make this a permanent problem not fixed by new O2 sensors?? Not looking to point fingers, just wanting permanent solution.. Any suggestions?

Do the LT hang low? I mean can you see them from a distance if you look under your car? I want a set on mine but on my 03 they hang below the frame and HATE that

Not sure what it looked like before... The headers are pretty even with lowest part of frame. From there the cross-pipe to high flow cats are a little lower but nothing that seems oddly out of place. I'll post some pics ASAP.

I do like the look of them from under the hood...

my understanding is that long-tube headers require a new ECU tune to compensate for the extra air flow and relocating the sensors is required. i'm sure somebody who has already been down this route will chime in sooner or later.

Yes a full Dyno tuning was done.

I went ahead and let them replace both o2 sensors on both sides at position showing issue. I was glad to hear them state they found a small issue with wiring at the extension harness which was repaired. I was pretty sure the sensors being new were fine so knowing an actual issue was found gave me piece of mind. I went ahead and paid for the sensors even though they probably did not need replacing. He tried to charge me 1/2 hour labor and I balked at that... All I wanted was no CEL after the repairs, I'm happy to report as of yet no CEL has returned... The car runs and sounds noticeably stronger than stock. I would not want to go back to stock having now been on the other side of the fence.

That's called "Shotgunning". If you throw enough parts at a problem (rather than diagnosing it and replacing THE bad part) you will eventually find the problem. That's NOT the way to do it and can be VERY expensive.

Find another shop. One that will get a trouble tree (flow chart) and follow the directions.

Like another poster said...Check for a burned wire or unplugged EGO sensor (it says circuit OPEN).

That is the drivers side (Bank 2) front (#1) EGO sensor in case the tech isn't sure.

I'm with you, it's a installation problem. It started immediately after you had the headers installed, not before or not some time after.

Which brand of headers and who did your tune? Any other engine mods?

Thanks

American Racing headers with High flow cats and X pipe. Just bolt on's as noted in my signature:

2.4" upper pulley with Gates HD green belt

JLT 123mm cold air intake

ARH 1 7/8" long tube headers with high flow cats

Dyno tuned (currently 671WHP)

I just installed the FRPP 65mm Cobra-Jet Throttle body and a tune from John Lund today. Runs great, hoping to get a Dyno run this week to see if I now have 700WHP which I suspect I will have.

Yes I am sure the fix was them finding the loose connection on that front sensor extension wire they installed so I paid $130 for nothing. These guy are very close to my home (very convenient) but primarily GM racing guys. I met another guy off the SVT Performance forum and he had the same install package and also had issues with them. A buddy has a CTSV and still gets CE lights weeks after the work they did. John Lund was not too keen on them either so they are no longer my mod shop...

My next mod will be the cam package from JDM. I'll use John Lund for the tune but will need a trusted shop in Houston (ideally NW Houston) for the install...any suggestions?

No, you need a tune for changes to TB or pulley or balancer. While a tune probably isn't mandatory doing LTs, why waste the money and NOT get a tune? I realize the thinking is bolt on bolt off with no clues, but LTs on the 5.8 is not an easy mod to do that with.

Screw it, Im not gonna sweat the warranty. Life is too short- lets have some damn fun!

GroberTX- PM DH777 or MSMAP. They live in your area, and have multiple Shelby's and none are stock. They know who you should go to. Let me know how you like the JDM Cams. Im curious...LTs and H pipe and lower 10% going on Tuesday! Woohoo!

Oh, and I use Maximum Velocity for all my car work- Tim Lee does flawless work. I don't think there is anything he can't fix.

For you other 2013+ owners- stay away from SVT Performance....its VERY expensive to visit!

Thanks will do... I'm torn between adding the cams or getting much wider back wheels/ tires first. That's not as easy for me as I love the stock PP wheels. Hoping to widen or more preferably locate an exact SVT PP wheel clone 11-12" width. Whichever I choose will likely be my Christmas present unless I get a new Harley...
