I don't recommend that combo, the clearance is not sufficient.

Did you purchase the parts from us?

I was under the impression the low profile diff cover would work. Is anyone running the Fays Watts Link having clearance issues? I've been trying to decide which one of these to go with:

Would be nice if we could get one from Shelby that will clear the watts link. Thoughts?

The Ford Racing cover (or Shelby version) from Moser does not fit with a Watts.

Get the KR diff cover from us. That one fits.

Call in your order, we have a few left, and they're the best. Ships with factory bolts and gasket.

I just spoke with Jim Fay and he emailed me the following which was a statement from Shelby:

"JIM, we are currently installing the std RED units and the billet units on 2007-2014 GT500, the issue was only with the cars that Ford supplied to us specifically equipped for the 2008-2009 KR program, the early 2008 cars for this program came from Ford with the std GT500 rear diff cover, approx.. midway thru the 2008 KR build Ford sent us the much larger modified Ford Expedition rear diff covers to install on the balance of the 2008 KRs and all of the 2009 KRs"

Jim also stated that he knows of customers who have been using the Ford Racing low profile diff cover with no issues. Jer - not to disagree with you, but maybe someone at Shelby could research and provide something definitive? That KR diff cover really is not what I was looking for.

I have the frpp diff cover you are referring to and a fays2 watts link and have no issues. it is a close fit, but fits. my fays 2 has the seven different holes for adjustability. I currently have the propeller bolt on the bottom hole of the watts link, which provides the closest fit of any of the positions. I have 1/2" clearance between the diff cover and watts link. hope this helps. watts links rock!

The KR cover is a modified Explorer/Mountaineer cover, not an Expedition cover.

Here is a thread from the SuperSnake forum that I started a couple of years ago. The second post in the link below shows a Red Fays2 and I believe a G2 FRPP billet cover on a convertible application...............

http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php/topic/63725-fays2-watts-link-anyone-using-this/page-1

^^^^^^The last picture in the second post linked above shows a propeller to cover clearance. I believe, but am not positive that the trick was to turn the propeller bolt around for additional billet cover clearance.

Here is the view I am talking about.............

Hoping I'll have no fitment issues, I just found a brand new Ford Racing M-4033-G2 aluminum differential cover locally at a Ford dealer and they were looking to clear out their stock. $155 + tax. That is the best price I've seen yet so I felt froggy and jumped.

The "G2" in the FRPP's name is the trick. The original Ford Racing cover didn't clear.

And, yes, turning the bolt around gives more clearance. We also have a shallower head on that bolt - a lesson we learned from our Production Dept.

Congrats on your "new car"!

Thanks Jer. Just wish it had the Shelby logo on it rather than Ford Racing, but I'll take what I can get.

Just glad to hear you're all set and enjoying the upgrade!
