VMP Upgrade

While I was in Orlando, I made a visit to VMP Tuning. They installed a 2.4 pulley, 90mm idler, 67mm VMP throttle body and SCT tune. The stock pull on the dyno was 583 RWHP and 585 lb/ft torque. After everything was installed and the engine tuned, it was at 688RWHP and 716 lb/ft torque. We used the stock instake and it was really hot and humid that day. This car is a new animal now and thanks to Justin Starkey and BJ McCarty for getting this done. It was the best bang for the buck spent on the car so far.

Can you believe you can get so much from such a small investment?! VMP did my very first tune on my 2008, and I never had a single problem.

Good job Justin and BJ!

I'd be really interested to see that against the RS3......just sayin.

I am quite interested in how this goes.

What kind of boost are you getting with the new pulley? 17 or more?

What about heat? have you noticed any timing being pulled?

I have gone this route with my 07 stock blower and spinning it like a hurricane. Need to upgrade HE for this to work.

Now you start looking at the 13 doing 15# of boost stock.

It makes lots of heat stock

Does have a bigger HE

The bang for the buck is good but I am starting to look at maybe a 2.8 KB might be not too much difference in price and will run a lot cooler. A stock takeoff should be good for at least 1500.00 and if you can get a good price on a KB the cost is starting to get close.

I had a lot of discussion with Jon Lund on this. It appears the stock blower config makes about 13-14 lbs of boost on the 13-14. I have already installed the JLT 127mm intake and the Ford Racing CJ 65mm - under full boost on my factory gage it looks like I am making 14 PSI. I have the VMP 2.4" pulley to install this weekend. Jon indicated this should get me to 15-16 PSI. I also have the Lund tune installed. I was a bit diasppointed with the stock blower boost - I though it made 15 PSI out of the box.

BJ can chime in on the price. Mine is the first with this particular configuration. I haven't noticed any heat soak yet. It only takes less than a couple of hours. They were shooting video when they did mine. I'll let you know how much boost later. Since I have the track package, I need to get to that screen.
