Who has removed the SC pulley and replaced it?

I did it on my 2008. Hearing some of the 'horror' stories, I was a little nervous. I used the VMP tool and it was a piece of cake. Easy to do and no 'drama'. Make sure to lube any washer/bolt surfaces that are supposed to slide against each other.

I don't know about the LPF tool.

Same as above. Try to see if anyone in your area has the vmp puller. It is the best puller I have used to date for our cars as well as all the other supercharged fords out there. It has more than paid for it self by doing puppy swaps for friends.

Any helpful hints regarding the belt?

It helps to have a second pair of hands. One person to pull the aux pulley slack, and the second to slip on the belt. Bump the engine over a couple times after you have the belt on to make sure its all lined up correctly, Don't want to go out for your test drive and throw the belt the first time you put your foot in it.

Start doing 90 pound curls 6 mos. before you try to put it on.

At least that's what I needed with my Whipple when I installed it.

That and a LOT of patience.

Actually, once I removed the two cooling tanks from above it, the idler was WAY easier to get to...Which I finally figured out after about a hour of cutting my arms to shreads.

Two people for the pulley makes it a very simple job.

sounds like ya need a second pair of hands.... if you want some help give me a call....

That LFP puller looks almost identical to the one VMP used to sell.

The current VMP Ultimate puller is a lot better than the first one, and requires much less effort to remove and install pulleys because of the improved center bolts and bearings.

I have used both of them myself, and there is no comparison in terms of ease of use, and durability of the puller itself.

If you look on the bar on the LFP, it has fixed holes for the long bolts that connect to the clam shell, instead of slots like the Ultimate puller has.

That means the LFP will be a good fit on a stock sized pulley, but will not work for removing a smaller diameter pulley like a 2.6" or smaller.

If you are installing a hub system like they show for the the LFP package, and you are just doing a one shot deal, then that may not be of concern to you.

Also the VMP Ultimate puller has an aluminum clam shell instead of a steel one, so is less likely to marr whatever pulley you remove with it.

Btw, if you are going for a smaller pulley and more power, why not consider picking up a 2.5" one, and the 90mm idler.

That combo should give you another 120+ extra hp.

The 2.5" pulley should only put you around the 625 crank hp range, if you keep it under 700 you should be fine.

If you really want to play it safe, use your tuner and drop your rev limiter down to 6000 rpm.

Your car will make plenty of torque and hp for the street under 6000.

Ask a reputable tuner/builder and they can let you know the safe limits.

Keep in mind that your stock motor is pretty fancy by earlier standards.

The weakest link is probably the rods, they have good compressive strength, but are not designed for high rpms.

The 07-09s are limited to 6200rpm from the factory.
