Ummmm... I sell AT MSRP, I anticipate having another allocation this week but I still have a pretty strong inventory right now. Shipping anywhere in the US. Would be more than happy to assist....

That is funny right there, someone posted one $2-3K under MSRP a few weeks ago, with the 2015 coming out I would not go near a 2014 Over Invoice.

I'll take you up on that bet, I see all the deals being made.... if there's more than 1 UNDER MSRP right now, I'll change my name to dufus. No disrespect intended, but don't you think they're worth it?

Since this a feeler-

If your dealer can get 1500.00 over sticker, then that's great, but if 2014 does indeed cut off early to retool, he runs a BIG risk losing the allocation, and while I may be no Trump, I'd venture to say its better to make 5-7k on a sticker car sold, than to not make a penny because I wanted 1500.00 extra. You dealers can say what you want about not making that much money on a msrp sale, but I know what money each vehicle makes a dealer (before overhead and inflated costs of business).

I am guessing Dufus is dying to post on this topic, but I think he is in time out for another week or so. Lol

It depends on what information comes out on the 2015. They are Great cars for sure, that is why they are still going for MSRP. I only saw one on here under MSRP, I have seen 1 other at a dealer. To me asking over MSRP is foolish at this point.

Jeff,

My local dealer (whom I've bought 2 GT500's from before) called me within the past 2 weeks and offered me a loaded triple black 2014 that just arrived for way less than MSRP. While it's a beautiful coupe, I already have a full time job - and not enough spare time to keep it clean. They have it displayed with a $20k ADM side sticker and they'll probably get it when the right pigeon buyer trips on it. The deals are out there for patient enthusiast buyers.

I don't dispute that deals CAN be had... but they are far and few between and even less so for a car exactly as the customer wants. All I'm saying is MSRP is a very FAIR deal and I try to keep enough stock on hand, and allocations coming, to put the right cars with the right owners. My only claim is I don't charge MORE than MSRP - its what I paid for mine. If I don't have a car that a particular person is looking for I even point them to other dealers who do. At the end of the day, I do this because I enjoy it... and its not my living. So, if I can help other I feel successful. If they find a better deal it doesn't hurt my feelings.

Agreed, we appreciate all opportunities and it is up to the individual to decide if the deal is right for them. At the same time, im a business man who knows better than to sell something for less than its really worth, so I don't tend to fault a dealer who asks questions like this, or tries to find the sweet spot. I just don't see these cars demanding the ADM's anymore. I think MSRP to order a car exactly to your specs is a good deal for both dealer and buyer. But, a 20k ADM on a Black on Black GT500, they're dreaming. I'll bet there are close to a hundred of them available out there right now. That's the most common color combo. For what it's worth, I had the chance to buy a Ruby Red coupe loaded for a grand under sticker. I would of jumped on it; but, my allocation came through and got exactly what I wanted. So, yes, there are some deals out there.

  • 2 months later...

Anyone who pays MSRP is tossing $$$$ away. Not looking for a long debate. I paid $62,500 for my 2014 GT500 with PP, Track Pkg, and Electronics Pkg. The MSRP was somewhere around $66K...give or take a few.

OP...make a serious offer on the car you want. Don't be afraid about traveling a few hundred miles to get the deal. There are way too many sitting in showrooms waiting for owners.

^^ A bunch of phone calls is the only way I know. My short story: Original order date from Dealer #1 was on/about 15 May. Told me they had allocation....two months pass no VIN. Went to Owner/Sales Mgr office and found they had lied about having allocation. Dealer #2....had allocation but lost it due to selling Raptor to Canadian customer. They called me two days after the order. Found the exact car that I had ordered twice sitting on the showroom 200 miles from my house.

Many cars are out there for the customer. Only takes a few minutes on the interweb to find the one you want. Don't trust dealers who say they have an allocation unless they can prove it to you by showing you the computer screen or hard copy from the Regional Rep.

Is there a way to find out which dealers still have allocations?

where are you? here's a list from about 6 weeks ago but i'm not sure what is or is not stil available. i just got my VIN last Thursday and don't even have a build date assigned yet. how serious are you about getting one? what specifically do you want?

about 6 weeks ago, i contacted 30 - 40 dealers looking for allocations. these guys all said they had one. since then they probably ordered something for store stock and it may still be changeable if it's not in 'locked' status yet. whether anybody has an allocation that hasn't been used to place an order at all, i don't know because i haven't talked with them in awhile. if not ordered yet, they might be willing to do a courtesy shipment if you live out of state.

a "bunch" is right. i went on cars.com and went down the list of all who had one for sale, and then asked if they had any more allocations left. (skipped all dealers who had an ADM in their ad). probably about 1/2 of the replies showed that they didn't even read my email, they just wanted to sell me the car in the ad. i had to clarify that i contacted them because i saw their ad, but i did not want any of their cars, i wanted to order one to my specs and needed an allocation.

last year, with my '13 i got the car because the dealer got an additional redistributed allocation. i just had the same thing happen with the '14 i ordered last summer on a long shot that they might get another allocation, and they did.

no disrespect, but whether you can get what you want via internet in a few minutes depends on what configuration you want. if you want black/black with all option except glass roof, sure that's an easy find. if you want a low-optioned car, probably not so easy because probably about 80% of cars are 65K+.

there are some killer prices on low-miles car too. Bill Utter in TX has a white/black vert with less than 500 miles advertised and when you plug in the vin, their price is about 8K below that. a cautionary note though is that there are for sure bait-n-switch ads out there, but there are also some great prices on very low milage cars. with winter just around the corner, the amount of used cars will rise quite a bit and prices in winter are much lower.

I have actually found a few cars on local lots that will work great. They just have ADMs which I don't like.

Local dealer is working up a proposal to take my 08' in on a trade. We'll see how that goes.

I bought that car in early 08' then my luck changed and I got an FGT and totally got preoccupied with that. I never drove (literally) that GT500, now I want to upgrade to the latest bodystyle preferably with Track option, reccarro seats and 821A group, none of which existed back in 08'.

I don't mind paying MSRP so we'll see how bad they want to ding me for an Alloy loaded 08' with 400 miles on it.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Just a personal preference. I'm 6'2" 200 lbs and my last toy...2009 M3 had aggressive seats and they got old on long road trips. The stock seats are more comfortable to me and not planning on Road Racing the car. If it were a true track car...the Recaros would be mychoice.

Have you spent any time in the Mustang Recaros? I just did a 8 hour each way trip in my Roush last month and have to say that I had no back problems at all, only stopping twice for fuel each way. In my Shelby with the stock seats (granted '06 are not as good as the newer, but not much different) I have back pain after about 2 hours. On our trips to Texas in the Shelby, my wife would have to keep moving pillows around to not have pain with her bad back. In the Recaro's nothing at all. They are very comfortable on long trips. Everybody I've talked to with the Recaros have been very happy on long trips with the Recaros. Just make sure you really try them out before you decide that they are not right for you. They are nothing like the race Recaros of old. My Roush is my daily driver and I love the Recaros for daily use.
