OK, I'm spitting tacks...

Seven thousand miles on my Shelby and there I am mere blocks from my garage.

Presto!

It rained on my car for the first time ever.

Yeah, I'm spitting tacks. I feel like Nature conspired to get me, I really do.

Never mind. I got my GTS on May 28th and have spent 6 weeks out of the country since then. I live in drought stricken Texas and my car has been rained on 3 times twice almost immediately after washing it.

It'll survive, give it a once over with detail spray and some microfiber cloths.

Hmmm, optimism. What a concept.

And here I was down in the dumps.

But darn it, now the underside is wet and dirty and I don't have a lift.

Maybe we could do some type of cloud seeding so when it rains, it's a spot free rinse.

If I could figure that out, I could make my first billion.

I could afford to build a town and continually seed clouds.

I'd have a sign:

Rain. It's water! I have driven my 2011 and 1966 GT350 toys through wet and dry. Big deal. They didn't stop the races at Sebring or Le Mans when it rained and guess what, the Shelby cars still won!

You can always lick it dry. It is a sweet ride! Enjoy it. B)

Ibj: I am with you. Had my car for a year and one half. It has never seen one drop of rain. I do a complete weather analysis before it leaves the garage (weather radar examination, projected rain chances, followed by 360 degree observation, and consultation with the local Seminole medicine man). I do the same before taking the HD out for a ride. So far it has worked great.

Yep! Me too!!! I have to wash my Shelby every time I take it out to get the dust off. Black paint, a love/hate relationship!!!!

Yeah....And Kona Blue is right behind Black!

Mine gets dirty just sitting in the garage (when I don't use the cover).

I usually try to avoid the rain, but got caught in a monsoon a few months ago that left standing water all over a low spot on the interstate. Drove through water about 6 inches deep and got a really nice underbody wash. Downside was I had a crazy shake in the steering wheel coming out of the puddle. Then it dawned on me water had collected inside my wheel wells. Got off at the next exit, did a few stop and go's, and cleared out the standing water in the wheel wells. No further issue. For the guys running True Forged Chicanes, that is your tip of the day.

Of course I promptly returned home and washed/polished the car. :salute:

Certainly it's all downhill from new and now that my build is 12 months old, the car looks almost as new, so I consider myself lucky to this point.

Months ago, a cement truck coming the opposite direction threw a large rock which ripped the driver's side clear bra. When the portion the rock hit was removed, we found a nice size dent in the metal just above the tire which had to be pushed out and then replace that portion of the clear bra.

I have a few obligatory shiners in the windshield, but that's about it.

Well that and a huge cleanup of motor oil that slathered the underside of the car when the Autometer oil pressure sensor gauge took a dump and spewed oil all over the place.

Arg pirates.

I typically use a local touch free spray wash.

Whatever soap they use doesn't seem to leave a film.

Then I drive for a blow dry and when I get home, the back looks terrible so I use a bucket of water to rinse the back end and pat dry.

So far, this method works well and is scratch free on the clear coat.

That car wash is making a ton of money off me, it costs 4 bucks each time I go there, about twice a week.

I had been getting way too much dust on the car as it sat in the garage However, since I started vacuming the garage floor every week with the portable Dyson, the dust problem has almost entirely resoved itself.

I am amazed at just how much dust a garage floor collects.

If your worried about your car EVER seeing rain? That is the definition of garage queen.

Dont sweat the small stuff. My car got rained on 5 minutes off the dealer lot. And that's practically a miracle where I live.

Took delivery of mine both of mine in the Rain. Remember it is a CAR go enjoy it!

I feel you. Mine was that way for a short while, but after 3 rainy Shelbyfest's and a very rainy trip to the NE Region Team Shelby Grand Nationals this year you learn to live with a little dirt and rain. It's no fun to own a Shelby if you can't drive it and get it dirty now and then. Enjoy it!!

Driving back from 2012 Shelbyfest last year, I drove through a downpour five miles from my house. Had to drive through constrution mud. I have finally got my SGT back to looking as good as it did before that day. I bet I spent at least 24 hours cleaning the car after that mess. Rain is OK as long as you don't have to drive in it. When I drive my car to work, some of my co-workers will tell me it is raining outside, just to see my reaction.

Still hope to see your GTS some time.

WOW, do you have absolute proof that your Car has NEVER been rained on before this? That is so cool. I have never seen a Car that has NEVER been Rained on before, and I will be 52 in 3 Days.

No, but it's true, one exception though.

My car had never been rained upon as a Shelby, from the time of delivery last August 20th or so, 2012, until last night.

Upon delivery from SAI, the odometer was around 1,000 miles and last night the odometer read aproximately 7200.

6200 miles of driving without rain.

The car did get rained on in May 2012 as a stocker prior to shipping to Las Vegas, however.

I know it's hard to believe but it's true. But I do look at the weather prior to driving it and it is not my DD.

I'm upset because the streak is over. Darn.

The drying spot marks from the rain are no worse than the obligatory "sneeze" marks on the hood, windscreen and roof every wash day. In fact they are slightly less annoying
since they don't always occur immediately after you cleaned the car.
