SGT/SC#0471
Ok so my belt is getting squeekier when cd and intermitently. Is it the idler bearing or belt, just a quick question, as I sure it has been figured out already. Thanks!
Doug_GT350
Mine was the idler, the 100mm one between the power steering and the blower.
SGT/SC#0471
Thank You! Looks like pull and head to bearing house...
NordicShelby
I just replaced my belt because it was getting chewed up. I have gone through 2 belts in 17,000 miles. One was chewed up at the track when a idler wheel blew up and this last belt had about 12,000 miles on it. I didn't hear any noise though so I would guess your noise is coming from the idler bearing. SGT/SC#0471
No belt looks good. No major dust or anything unusual, just a squeek. Chirp. Will post back with result soon. Going to see if bearing house has belt as well will change if they do as if it's off...;@)
Jer
Mine was the pulley bearing as well. Only squeaked for 30 seconds after starting, but was still annoying enough that it needed fixing! Jer

zachman
I gave up and went to 10 rib also. Best move I ever made.

Here is another thread that fixed some problems with the 100mm idler bearing and belt issues. http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php/topic/63906-are-gates-belts-inferior-for-supercharged-whipples/
