Today we got a Police escort to the Edsel Ford House. Pretty damn cool having the streets and freeways stopped of all traffic for us to use.

The Edsel Ford house.........30,000 square feet with everything you could imagine. Unfortunately no pics were allowed inside the house.

Wow! That is just awesome! I hope they have an event similar to this next year. I will be going to Detroit next year and would love to participate in something that cool!

don't get the wrong idea mustangman.... This event was the Ford GT Event, not the Team Shelby event..... Team Shelby puts on a nice event but they aren't big enuf to get traffic stopped. Still in all tho if I were you I would make plans to do the Dearborn event if they ever have another one.

get traffic stopped.

Speaking of traffic stops, apparently we made the news....3 times...lol

In this fist pic, the police cars are not cruising slowly, they are completely stopped!

Again, very awesome. How many Gt's where there? Looked like a large group.

29 FGT's in attendance

Well, this adventure is coming to an end. We dropped off the SS at Reliable Transport to ship home and Marji and I are at Detroit Airport waiting for our flight. All told we drove 4400 miles, used 250 gallons of fuel and spent 85 hours behind the wheel. Not to shabby if you ask me.

Thank you so much for all the kind words from everyone............we enjoyed all your posts very much.

One heck of a big car show at the Ford Headquarters. Over 1000 cars

This Pre-production 1964-1/2 Mustang was built for Henry II. K code, GT, Styles steel wheels, leather interior, actual wood accents.

This was a super fun thread to read as it unfolded. I appreciate the time you took to share your trip with us. You have given me many ideas of things I need to put on my bucket list. I hope to see you soon at a event.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well the Shelby made it home last night but not without a little damage. . Thank goodness I took photos in front of the Transporters facility when I dropped her off. No damage in those pics.

That sucks!!

Mind you if you take it out of the garage it will get damage, but the memories you have of the trip out weight any damage. 99% of the our 07s wounds were from road trips and I remember where we got everyone. Every time I notice the scratches, dints, and chips all I can think of is the great times and people we have meet. Lisa and I are pleased we do not own any Garage Queens!!.

Its a big world out there get out and burn some fuel be for it is all gone!!

I could accept some road rash that happens from driving, especially if it happens while I'm enjoying the car. Damage from the transporter is another matter. Those guys are supposed to be professionals, at least what the hours of advertsiing during the BJ and Mecum auctions the last two weekends claimed. I hope they accept responsibility and pay for the repairs without putting you through the wringer.

Is that a dent on the hood along with the scuff mark?

Across the ocean twice, and nothing....a short domestic hop and this...bummer...other than an hassle and annoyance of having to deal with this, I'm sure they'll stand up and take care of it.

Good luck my SRE brother

I'm with you Al............road rash happens and I can deal but this is carelessness. No dent just a bad scrape and rash.

That blows. I've used Reliable. Although they delivered the car ok they were late and had zero communications. I've switched to Intercity. Far more customer oriented.

I'm sure they'll take care of it.

It's good you took those pics...

Thanks Andy. So far Reliable hasn't answered my messages. So much for "Reliable" :hysterical2:

Hopefully after the car week rush settles they will return your calls as trucks are most likely returning vehicles to their respective destinations. Reliable was one of the most used here in Monterey during car week. They had a large fleet presence. Good luck and be sure to keep us posted.

That really stinks Dan. Hopefully you can get it fixed up without a hassle.

I used Plycar twice to ship to Vegas for my 40th and back to NJ after the 50th bash. Both times we had great communication and they were right on time picking up and delivering both times. They also beat any other price I got.
