Congrats to the SPEC MUSTANG drivers who drove in the US Majors race this last weekend! The SMG cars ran in the T2 group and finished both races in the top 4 positions! Hats off to Don Van Nortwick for finishing first in both races followed by two day second place finisher Mitch Marvosh and two time third place finisher Russ Peterson. Way to go !

SPEC MUSTANGS were in action this past weekend at the running of the SCCA US Majors race in Buttonwillow, California in the T2 class. In Saturday's sprint race it was Mitch Marvosh finishing third, Russ Peterson in fourth, and Nicole Jaque in fifth. In Sunday's main race Peterson finished second, Jaque came in third, while Marvosh fail to make the start. While there is only 2 race weekends left in the Majors Tour the SMGs are giving it their all to climb to the top of the Western Conference title in the Touring 2 class category. The next SCCA regional race is scheduled for May 15th through 17th at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California.

Mark Drennan wins the first race of the weekend by edging out second place Addison Lee (both getting down into 1:58 lap times)! David Ray battled it out with Sean Wheeler to finish third over the newcomer Wheeler(fourth). Then came another newcomer this season,Todd Solomon in fifth, Don Van Nortwick in sixth, Nicole Jacque in seventh, Jason Hoffman in eighth, Mitch Marvosh in ninth, and Lynne Griffiths placed tenth in the SMG class. The race had several battles going on in the ranks and sounds like they put on a good show for the first race. Second race is this afternoon @ 2:35 PM PST and should be just as exciting.

Well the second race today was one of payback/balance as the winner was Addison Lee over Mark Drennan and third place was Sean Wheeler over fourth place finisher David Ray. Fifth was again going to Todd Solomon but, Mitch Marvosh was able to edge out Don Van Nortwick for sixth in class and Lynne Griffiths stepped up to beat Nicole Jacque while Hoffman was not able to start.

For the second year in a row a SPEC MUSTANG has won the Touring 2 class in the SCCA US Majors Western Conference of the series. This year Peterson prevailed as the winner. Perseverance and reliability pays off with the SPEC MUSTANGS in getting to the top of a class which is normally dominated by Porsches and Corvettes. It's pretty amazing when a little guy pulls off a big win in a group where it's never expected.

On the SCCA regional level in the San Francisco Region there has been a total of 15 different cars/drivers this year competing in the SPEC MUSTANG GROUP (SMG) class.

Mark Drennan (former SPEC MIATA champion) is currently in the points lead as of August 1st.

No Shelby GT cars have run this year so far in the regional series however, the Shelby GT SMG entry in the National Touring 2 class of Russ Peterson did win the Western Conference of the SCCA US Majors Tour Series and was ranked fourth overall in the national standings for 2015.
