Team Shelby – June 25, 2013 – Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI.PK), announced today that the legendary high performance company will open a state-of-the-art global headquarters on December 1, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Located near the world famous “Strip” and McCarran International Airport, the 135,000 square-foot facility will house all operations under one roof, positioning one of the strongest independent automotive brands in the heart of one of the largest leisure and convention travel destinations in the world. The new headquarters fronts I-15 and is one block off of Las Vegas Blvd at 6405 Ensworth St.

“Shelby American is gearing up for global expansion,” said John Luft, president of Shelby American. “The decision to move operations into our new headquarters is consistent with what Carroll did many times in the past. Our new facility allows us to be more nimble and accessible to our customers, while dramatically improving production and operational efficiency.”

As the only auto manufacturer in the state of Nevada, Shelby American builds three continuation model Shelby Cobras, as well as Shelby versions of the Ford Shelby GT500, and Ford Mustang, Raptor and Focus. The current factory, located on the outskirts of town, is comprised of five buildings, each housing a different phase of the business. The new global headquarters combines the entire production process and Speed Shop with a historic Shelby automotive museum, gift shop and special factory tours.

“Consolidating our manufacturing and Speed Shop facilities under one roof will accelerate production while providing the flexibility to ramp up new vehicle models,” said Gary Davis, vice president of production, research and development at Shelby American. “We carefully planned this move for minimal interruption of customer deliveries by setting up duplicate production lines in both locations during the transition.”

With strong demand worldwide for the vehicles built by Shelby American, the company is moving into the European and emerging Asian markets. Combining the new facility with the company’s popular Shelby branded styling and performance parts distribution has the company poised to be a major player in the global automotive manufacturing and performance parts market.

“The hunger for American performance vehicles overseas is helping drive sales for Shelby branded parts worldwide,” said Jer Gervasi, vice president of the Shelby Performance Parts division. “As we grow our global vehicle and parts reach, this new facility positions us well for the future.”

Relocating to the heart of the most popular convention and tourist destination in the world was an important aspect in Shelby American’s decision making process.

“Over the past 50 years, Carroll Shelby relocated Shelby American several times as the company evolved,” said Joe Conway, President of Carroll Shelby International. “From the original factory in Southern California to our recent facilities at the edge of the Nevada desert, each move was executed to meet the business needs of the company at that time. As Shelby American has evolved into a more consumer direct business, the need to be close to the famed Strip and close proximity to the airport will give the Shelby brand added exposure to millions of people who visit Las Vegas annually.”

Shelby American is planning a grand opening event for the new global headquarters later this year. Details will be announced as they become available at www.shelbyamerican.com.

Going global? Don't tell me Shelby American and the Ford Mustang are both going European. Then again the article seems to consistenly remind readers of the emphasis on American muscle. I trust'em.

Either way, still want to go see the place. Now I have to see the main building before the move!

Cool, but the airport noise might drive y'all nuts!!

Nah... I worked right across the street from our new HQ at Guitar Center for a few years, and believe me, Nellis Air Force Base up here is WAAAAY louder! Jer

Closer to the strip for visitors

Will the signature walls be moved?

Will there be a satellite garage at LVMS?

Being in the heart of Vegas has been a longstanding goal for Shelby. As for the walls or satellite garage, probably not. Jer

Yup, no worries... SA will NOT "go European". The point in the article is that our BUSINESS has grown to include far more than just the USA. We need the space, the efficiency, and to all be under one roof. Plus, the new Museum and Retail Store will be a dramatic expansion. This move benefits the company AND our customers. Jer

It's a bummer that all of that history will be lost. It then agai. It means there will be fresh walls to scribble over

Maybe there are some famous signatures that could be preserved. Like all 10 or so of mine:)

Will the museum get more space? Maybe some opprotunity for some of Carroll's other cars to come out of hiding?

Jer,

You don't have to necessarily "move" the wall. You could have an HD scan of the wall made and then have it transferred to the new location as a sealed "wall paper" application, with more new space on either side for new first time visitors. Just a thought...

If the operations are being consolidated, I cannot see the cost and work involved to move all the walls. Heck, my signature above the Cobra assembly room was done when they were still finishing construction. I used a painters 5 gal. bucket to stand on. It was Carroll's idea, not SAI to let the walls be signed. I will miss it but really, is the new location large enough to combine all the signature walls and still have space for factory displays?

So much for easy track testing and Museum delivery practice runs. Poor Gary is going to have a very different back yard. I hope that this doesn't result in a lot of tickets on the highways.

I do like the nostalgia of the plant moving near an airport after 50 years!

Jer, my signature is easy to find I signed right above a door handle in the big shop on a door at the end, closes to the Nascar Speedway. Mabye some take off items such as the doors and fixtures that were signed can be removed and added to the new place. You can always ship me that door! ha,ha Seeing the old place go will be a bitter sweet. Do I sense a Shelby Hotel and/ or Casino in the future? Or even a new restaurant?

I think they should have a big sendoff to the old place. Maybe a big Shelby gathering!? Then we can all caravan down to the new place for the grand opening. Have like a mini car show or something to celebrate? Just a thought of a cool way to introduce the new place.

Well, so much for the 50th anniversary of the mustang being at Shelby's back door. That said, they will be close to the host hotel. Going to be bitter sweet. Just think, the cars they built there will now be part of history. Remember when? All this said, change brings new opportunities.

Oh, I predict we will kick the new place off with a huge BANG.

As for eatin', keep in mind, this puts us only a few hundred feet away from Town Square, Las Vegas' best shopping and food, etc... You could hit the Guitar Center sign with a rock from my new office. Not that I WOULD, of course! LOL...

For moving cost reduction, I would suggest a Shelby Moving Cruise. Imagine hundreds of fans using their Shelby factory roadsters, Mustangs, F140 trucks, Raptors, Series 1, etc. moving the shop. Of course, you would have to assume that all the items being transferred would actually end up at the new location and cars would not be scattering to the exit ramps after picking up pieces of the factory...!
