2much
I hit 140 or so and it was hard to shift into 5th gear, I did 3 runs and all 3 runs I had a hard time shifting into 5th but doing 80 or 100mph no problem? Any thoughts

David Hawkins
Probably because you should be in 6th Gear at that speed. Edited June 17, 2013 by tesgt350
b17drvr
My car is hard to shift into 5th at any speed.
09 Red GT500
My car did not have any problems shifting into 5th at that speed when I ran the Texas Mile.
Roush GR40
I had the same problem at a track event at VIR...with both the stock shifter and an upgraded Barton (thought the shifter was the problem). After eliminating the shifter as the source of the problem I am new thinking the reverse lockout solenoid may be the issue. Very frustrating on the track...and are hoping to get fixed under warranty. Just so hard for any service department to re-create the problem.
Frank S
I've read that at engine RPM near or above 7,000 the clutch pressure plate has "weak fingers" and can't overcome centrifugal forces to perform its function. Does the clutch pedal go down and stay, but have no effect? Does reducing speed and RPM (coasting) free up the gear-change process? Lots of 2010+ six-speed drivers reporting this. Me, too. 2much
The 155-mph speed limiter will be removed, allowing a top speed approaching 200 mph to be achieved in 5th gear. I suspect breaking that 200-mph barrier will be difficult, but 5th is geared to do it. This is part of an article from road and track. , 6 gear is for cruising
2much
Update on my 5th gear and grinding reverse issue, ford replaced the clutch , flywheel and other parts. 5th gear is good now made runs of 130 to 150mph But I'm still getting the grinding from reverse intermittently , taking it to ford again today, thank you
2much
Finally ford dealer confirmed the synchro and reverse were bad , it's only been a month since I dropped it off. Just want to share, 2013 gt500 transmission does have a reverse synchro , ford headquarters told me it was normal for some reverse grind and I should shift into a gear before reverse, well that helps a little but according to tremec I should not have to do that. I love the shelbys but ford they really need to know their product. If anyone has a problem with 5th gear and reverse have the dealership look at the synchro or shift forks
