cormy
Sorry probably been beaten to death but.... How easy is the access to the filter, I haven't looked for the location yet. How many quarts does it take? Reason why I ask is I have experienced major problems attempting to do a simple oil change on newer vehicles, where it turns out not to be worth the aggravation. msb64
You need 6.5 quarts, just make sure you do not overfill. The oil filter is towards the rear of the engine on the drivers side, and is pretty hard to see until you get right under the car. If you get the car up on ramps you can get at it, but it can be a bit tight depending on your size and the height of your ramps. The most annoying part of the whole deal is that there is some frame structure directly beneath the filter (k member?), and if you try to take off the filter the old oil will run onto that and drip all over the place. I made up a trough from a plastic container to help direct the oil away from the frame, that way it can drop into a drain pan without making a big mess. Secondo
+1 ^ It's pretty straightforward like the older cars, no surprises like some of the newer cars I've seen too. Just make sure you put the correct weight oil in the GT500. 5W-50, it's not like other Mustangs that use 5W-20.
aonebadbone
I noticed the other day I had the front tire off the car and the filter is right there. Easy to acess but crapy location over the K frame
IngotSilverSnake
Here is a thread that may be of some help: http://www.svtperfor...2007-gt500.html From my experience, I would suggest you drape a 30 gal plastic garbage bag over the K member. You won't get a drop on the frame. Easy clean up. I also suggest you use the OEM FL820S filter rather than the Ford Racing filter.

cormy
Ok good..as long as I can do it myself. Has anybody taken there's to a shop or " quicky lube" to get it done? Wondering the cost. Thanks again.
IngotSilverSnake
I would not take my lawn mower to a "quickie lube." To change oil in the Shelby, dealer cost varies according to inputs on other threads. Seems to be about $100 or somewhat higher. 5W-50 oil costs $8.71/qt at my dealer. Motorcraft Oil Filter about $5 plus labor, tax, etc.
