2010KonaBlueGT
While viewing a auction for the SVT center caps that fit a 20" Alcoa, I noticed a associated auction suggested by e-bay. They are "ID Plates" that say they're from the Las Vegas location, not Venice or Los Angeles (indicating they are for newer cars). The seller says they were found at a Estate Sale (I call BS) and has/had more than one set. I'm assuming they're fakes. Does a genuine Shelby CSM plate look anything like the one pictured? What would the top plate in the pic be used for??? http://www.ebay.com/...d=290733541763 I also notice that he says "Reproduction brushed aluminum plates". One shows Shelby AUTOMOBILES and the other shows Shelby AMERICAN. I guess my primary question is, did Shelby ever make plates like this? Cali_KR
They are self made as it states right in the ad copy "reproduction" on those, Use them as a novelty item to use perhaps in a framed piece of wall art (with your car) as an example... 2010KonaBlueGT
They are self made as it states right in the ad copy "reproduction" on those, Yeah, I noticed that after posting and edited my OP accordingly. Question still applies: Did Shelby American or Shelby Automobiles ever use a plate that looks like that? Phill
Larry T
Hello .... here is a link for the CSM plate for the Shelby GT, SS, and Shelby GT-H http://allcarcentral.com/shelby/SHelby_GT500_CSM08SS0419_sn-1ZVHT88S085153326_2008_ADM0054_danville-CA_2009.jpg http://allcarcentral.com/Ford/Shelby_GT_CSM07SGT4833_sn-1ZVHT82H875361675_ADM0018_danville-CA_2009.jpg http://farm1.staticflickr.com/55/130927419_27de93b277_z.jpg?zz=
2010KonaBlueGT
Hello .... here is a link for the CSM plate for the Shelby GT, SS, and Shelby GT-H http://allcarcentral...lle-CA_2009.jpg http://allcarcentral...lle-CA_2009.jpg http://farm1.staticf...b277_z.jpg?zz=1 Thanks Larry! Yeah, that's how I remembered them. I think I've seen some of the older "classic" Shelby cars with a similar CSM plate (to the e-bay plate) but they were black, not blue. Closer to the last photo, but without Carroll Shelby signature on them. And I remember them all having 2 pop-rivets in them too. I paid his 40 bucks just to see what they look like IRL. I figure 40 bucks won't kill me and IF I wanted to use one, like Kali KR says, in a frame with my SAI cert.. Personally, I'm surprised Shelby American isn't all over this guy. They're fake, forgeries, whatever you want to call them. If I put the CSM# on one (I have metal stamps of various sizes) and mounted it on my car with 2 pop-rivets, only the well informed would know the difference between a real one and a fake. I went by the CS logo. Fakes have sharper corners on them vs. the more curved corners of a genuine logo. Check your photo's vs mine to see what I mean (look at the C where it curves around the outside edge, and somewhat on the S too). 2010KonaBlueGT
Did you see his other items he has Saleen & Roush plaques, how can these be legal?. I don't think they are, in my opinion. He's saying he got them from a Estate Sale rather than saying he made them or had them made or something like that. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that the seller produces them for sale (which would be illegal unless licensed by Shelby American). All of this is MY OPINION, of course.... Jer
Because SAI hasn't caught them yet. Guys, to be clear: SA (or SAI)= Shelby American. We make cars in Las Vegas. SPP = A division of SA, we sell parts and accessories, and apparel. Shelby Licensing = They control trademarks, service marks, copyright, etc... Carroll Shelby Foundation= our charitable organization. Thanks, Jer

Where at? I assume the mod to the OE caps is just making them a bit smaller diameter? The guy who first manufactured them wouldn't say. 89Saleen215
You can read this thread here: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/svt-shelby-gt500-150/929026-interest-check-custom-billet-alcoa-center-caps.html OR go to their website here: http://www.billetproshop.com/store/ On the OEM cap there's a lip about 1/8"-1/4"(?) down from the top/front that has to be milled/cut down to the same diameter as the rest of the body of the cap...that's it.
