Banditone1
I have been looking at the Shelby shifter for several years now and it has been on sale for a while. The description says "Engineered by Shelby American, these five speed manual transmission shifters are designed for extreme usage while being perfectly suitable for street applications. They greatly improve shifting over the factory Mustang or Shelby GT shifter. Now, I have personally seen where Shelby has "forgotten" what they originally installed on the Shelby Gt. Example being my Shelby Gt while it was still under the 3yr 36k mile warranty and my hood scoop started to separate from the hood so I did what you have to do. I went to Ford, they took the pictures and submitted the claim. Shelby denied the claim because they said that none of their hood scoops were attached to the hood with double sided tape. I bought my Shelby Gt from the original owner and my father had bought a Shelby Gt brand new when they first came out and his was also double sided taped to the hood and had to be replaced. So i had to fork over the 175 dollars to Wendy at performance parts and I had to pay the body shop to install the new hood scoop. The only upside was I kept the original scoop instead of having to send it back to Shelby. So basically it is hard to call Shelby and believe whoever awnsers the phone anything about new products and fitments on the Shelby Gt. So, has anyone with the Hurst short throw installed by Shelby, installed the Shelby shifter? If so please let me know if it is worth the money. Thanks in advance. 2007tungstenGT500
i installed one on my 2006 Mustang GT. it's actually a Ford Racing part manufactured by hurst. mine rattled like hell no matter how well i tightened everything. i called hurst and they made it clear that they couldn't give a crap about it. i can't speak directly about the 5-speed shelby shifter, but i have the 6-speed shelby shifter in my GT500 now and it works flawlessly. ilmor
Banditone1, are you having problems with your original Hurst shifter, or are you just interested in trying something different?

Bandit, just for the record, Shelby American did not approve or deny warranty claims. All warranty claims were handled and decided by PCG Campbell. The claim denial provided by your dealer doesn't make sense and in hindsight I would have questioned the dealer on this. Steve

Steve When i first got the car the roof stripes were badly faded so i went to my ford dealer and they took pictures of them and sent them to "Shelby" as they put it and the claim was approved and i got new stripes put on free of charge. I expected the same thing from the hood scoop issue. I bought the new scoop from Wendy so when i say Shelby that is a blanket statement for all Shelby parts associated from the car. The dealer gave me the phone number of the claim people and they were the ones that told me the reason for the denial as i put in the topic description. Thanks for the reply!
