We had a Shelby 1000 that joined us for cruise from Palm Springs to Las Vegas, and that car is amazing, and what a note out of the exhaust...pure intoxication.

To the couple from Colorado who brought it out, Thank you!

Also, watched Gil with one on the dyno at the Shelby Speedshop... 969rwhp at 201mph.

Those are BIG NUTS cars

Wonder how long it would take to get one done? Do you have to use the 2012 SVT GT500?

A 2013 is the donor car....see release below

Shelby American will introduce the 2013 version of the most powerful production, street legal muscle car in the world on March 28, 2013, at the New York International Auto Show. The company will have on display its 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C version with 1,200 horsepower, which is based on the Ford Shelby GT-500. Beginning with Ford’s new massive 5.8L V8 power plant, the 2013 Shelby 1000 puts unprecedented horsepower to the pavement, while running on pump gas.

Looking forward to an independent track test by an auto magazine to see the actual performance numbers and how it handles all that power. B)

Check out this tasty little clip with resident hot shoe Gary Patterson behind the wheel.

Well then, it would be over a year then, the "Build It Now" site at SAI says you could use a 2012, much faster and cheaper.

The front strait away speed on the 1000 was beyond incredible,no other car on track that day (that I saw anyway) lept outta the corner like that. Let's hope the 1200 has a bit higher temp brake pads AND that Wilwood warranties the rotors that Patterson,uh,durability tested...

Durability tested ?? :hysterical:

Those things were trashed.

Good on the owner for allowing him to run it on the track. Truly amazing. Thanks for allowing all of us to see.

Why do you say a 2012 would be faster? 2013 GT500s are readily available. The 2012 has the smaller engine and lower HP.
