* * * * DON'T FORGET * * * * Final Alcoa Sale Starts Monday Morning

Recommended Posts

Thought I would post a reminder that the FINAL Alcoa sale starts Monday morning. From Jer's earlier thread:

Orders will be allowed starting Monday, March 4th at 6am Pacific Time.

As this is an EXTREMELY limited item (It is anticipated that this item will be sold out instantly), no orders can be accepted once sold out. This is all that remains from the final run.

Limit six wheels per customer. Any orders exceeding 6 will be canceled with no product delivered to customer.

Wheels are in stock and will ship within 5-7 business days of order.

For more info or specs, visit http://www.shelbysto...ductCode=AF2082

Good luck everyone, these will go FAST !

Just a quick addendum to this...

The preferred method of purchase for this item will be an online order. I say this because the storefront will likely be less bogged down than the phone system. The most perspicacious of you will have a set of wheels ordered very early.

NObody can say they weren't warned (like the first time around)!

Maybe dupe this post in every section then delete them after the sale starts?

I'm SO tempted to buy a set, just because they have the "Fifty Year" scribe on them, but I'm not going to be greedy. I have my KR and my SS Alcoa's already (and one set is still sitting in boxes on a shelf).

Great point Tim. And I agree that online orders would be the speedier way to go.

Good luck everyone :)

Only International customers should be using the phone for this. The entire phone staff AND extra staff will be here, and we still will very likely have a phone wait time.

And, remember, here's a little tip: The wheels will NOT be reserved by simply putting them in the online cart.

You only get the wheels if your transaction completes. So, have your credit card handy, do NOT dawdle once the wheels are in your cart.

And if you order more than six, your order will be cancelled. Not "reduced to six", but cancelled COMPLETELY.

Keep in mind that we have 9 inch and 10 inch in stock. They will, of course, sell unevenly, so one will run out before the other.

MY advice? If 10s run out, BUY FOUR NINES and get them widened!

Sorry for all the complications, but I want everyone to be well-warned.

Why don't you put a set of 4 made up of 2 10's and 2 9's as one listing? Buy 4 nines and get them widened is a pretty dumb suggestion.

What if someone doesn't want two 10s? Your suggestion seems quite a bit dumber...

I am going to make at least one other person happy as I am dropping out of the scramble for these wheels. :( I still think they are a great buy and look fantastic on these cars ...... however......

I just bought a Lexus 460 F Sport for my traveling :) .............................and that has sort of decimated the auto budget for a little while.....

Good luck to all those that are going after these wheels......

Sku #1 10 inch only, sku #2 9 inch only, sku #3 combo 9 inch & 10 inch.

My thought was a third option to buy the combo would save a buyer the worry of only getting 2 wheels or 4 that have to be resized. Sorry should have stated this as a third option in my original reply, not the only option.

Understand your suggestion. Seems like it would be good to know the mismatch between 9's and 10's. You could plan better when rushing for the constrained number of wheels.

Not sure if ordering would bump you down to Four nines if you try to order four 9's and two 10's to be able to have at least the 9's and for go the staggered set up.

Just an observer as nice as these are I have other things I want more.

Sorry to offend, just surprised as lawyers will have a field day if by your written recommendation / advice a widened wheel ever fails, you are an employee of Shelby not just a forum member, chances are slim but not nil.

The liability wouldn't fall on Jer or Shelby American, it would fall upon the company that widens the wheel.

We offer wheel widening through our Shelby American Motorsports Division. Nothing new or risky being discussed here.

Here's the problem, AS I SEE IT (and Jer can correct me if I'm wrong):

Shelby ordered N wheels (for the "Fifty Year" sale).

I assume half of those wheels were 10" wide and half were 9" wide (and I *assume*, a even number of each and very likely, the same amount of both). So let's use a fictitious number, just for discussions sake. Let's say Jer/SA ordered 500 SETS/250 PAIRS of wheels. 250 pairs of 10" wide wheels and 250 pairs of 9" wide wheels.

But during the first sale, some people opted for SETS of 4 10" wide wheels. Most probably went with 2-9" (Fr.) and 2-10" (Rr.) wheels.

The ones that opted for 4-10" wheels just upset the number of 9"/10" SETS so now there are more 9" PAIRS available than 10" PAIRS.

Now it only reasons that the remaining SETS will get the same treatment....Some will by SETS of 10" and some will by SETS of 9"/10" wheels.

AGAIN, there will be more 9" wheels left over than 10" sets which means at some point in time, they will only have SETS of 9" wheels available.

Therefor, IF YOU PLAN TO WIDEN YOUR REARS, it would behoove everyone (you, because they are cheaper and SA because it would help even out the mis-match SETS) to buy all 9" wheels (since you're going to widen them anyway). I can see that SOME will want to widen the rears and run 10's i in the front so a set of 9"/10" would be the way to go for them.

In short, my assumption is that SA is going to be stuck with a bunch of 9" wide Alcoa's when all is said and done. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing because there may be a bunch of Mustang and Mustang GT folks that want to run 9's all the way around.

But that would explain Jer's comments about buying 9's and widening them.

Again, I expect Jer will correct me if I'm wrong and I certainly don't pretend to speak for Jer or SA.

JMHO,

Phill (EDIT for spelling errors)

Pardon my ignorance here, but is there any advantage to running 20x10s in the front vs 20x9s?

You can have one tire for a spare, rather than two.

Some guys are running 10's up front when they widen their rears to 11.5 or 11.75 to balance out the car.

Okay Phil now you got me thinking

I bought (2) 9's and (2) 10's and that is it, I did not want an extra in each size and really was not excited about spending an extra $1,200. Hell

i I have not even found the cash to buy the rubber yet.

But I could by a 9 and if a front gets trashed I am okay and if a rear one gets trashed I have it widened .....brilliant !!!!

Now I have about 16 hours to decide if I want to buy (1) 9" as my dual purpose backup

Thanks

Andrew

That sounds like really good logic. Something I hadn't thought about when I bought my 20's.

If I curb a wheel, I'm pretty much screwed. Not too may single 20" Alcoa wheels out there (sans the Super Snake or the Fifty Year logos).

Hell, I'm REAL worried about taking them into a tire shop to have rubber mounted on them. I am going to make DARN SURE to tell them that if they screw ONE up, it'll cost them somewhere between $5 and $10K (because they'll only find a set or pair on e-bay, not a single).

Maybe I'll start keeping a eye peeled for a single non-SS, non-50yr Alcoa in 9" wide.

sooooo.....all the Alcoas are currently showing out of stock.....

is this because people have already put them in their carts in preparation for tomorrow and the sale is essentially over already?

or will you clear all the carts prior to 6am PST so whatever inventory on hand will actually be up for grabs to the first buyers?

or has it been this way all along, no one has been able to "cart" them and tomorrow at 6am PST the switch will be flipped

and access granted for all simultaneously?

(please say # 3)

Ding ding ding! Number 3, Michael!

At 6am, they will be added to stock, and the system will allow customers to put them in carts.

That does not guarantee they will GET them, however - It's the people who FINISH their transactions first that get them.

I will be watching each order in real time as it goes through, cancelling any that show more than 6 wheels to any customer. No email, no phone call, no "reducing it to 6", just CANCELLED.

When the stock in each size is gone, they will not be available to put in a cart, and that's that. 10s will sell out before 9s.

I will post here when it's over.

As we get closer to the "EVENT", are there any odds on how fast SA will sell out? Within the hour? Any casino giving over/under odds? I'm looking for some action.

I wish there was a way for "outsiders" to checkout the sale numbers. Don't know why but I find this interesting...

This is turning into a joke. They won't last a full minute. No way the OMS will be able to keep up. I'm forecasting a train wreck. Nothing against Jer though. It's just they more than likely aren't built from a hosting perspective for what is going to happen in a few hours.

I appreciate the thought, but don't give anyone MORE reasons to send me Alcoa hate mail! The conspiracy theorists need very little to go on, you know!

Best of luck, everyone.
