BMR Radiator Support, Brace, A-Arms A-Arm Support and K-member finally done

Where did you find that BRACE?

I have everything you have there, EXCEPT the brace (the part with BMR on it). Mine are the dark color (like your a-arms) but I care less if I had a red brace. BMR was making those parts in both colors so I assume I could get the brace in the dark (whatever color they call it) but there was no brace listed when I bought my K-member, A-arms, A-arm brace, Radiator support. My rad. support is by Steeda (silver) but it looks the same as yours, with the swaybar mounts included.

EDIT: I just realized, I have the same oil pan too. Where did you find those corrugated hoses for your brake coolers? I need to replace one of the Ford Racing ones I cut short in my installation.

TIA,

Phill

The BMR Brace is part # CB004 and I bought it directly from BMR ( it is available in Hammertone) I was on an early list so I got one out of the first batch. Get a hold of Kelly at BMR

I can't remember where I got the hose but will figure it out tonight.

Is that applicable to all Mustangs, even GT 500? Would this add structural rigidity to verts or is it only for racing? Did you sacrifice any ground clearance?

Thanks!

Yes BMR make the stuff to fit GT500's as well.

Contact Kelly at BMR and he should be able to help you with info as it relates to verts.

There is no ground clearance issues, nothing is lower than stock.

  • 1 year later...

Andrew ,

Are those the Steeda billet front sway bar frame mount brackets that you used ?

Now you are going to have to show the rear suspension stuff to us also

P.S. - I see some nice little 1" x 1" jacking rails on the car also !

Phill,

I just got all these parts in hammertone including the brace you are interested in, however Kelly at BMR had his guys fabricate it without the BMR logo plate in the middle. They state it adds no real additional support and was simply to add their logo. It looks much cleaner without that plate IMO. Everything going on the '09 in about a week or so.

Also needing to get a brake duct kit that will work with the Wilwood's. According to what I have found the Ford Racing kit backing plate for the KR will not fit behind the Wilwood rotors. I inquired with Watson Racing about fabricating their set up to fit my car, but it was going to be too expensive. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. SA has yet to release their updated product that is supposed to fit. First it was going to be January.... then February.... now May... which will likely be sometime off in the distant future. :waiting:

Kenny Brown jacking rails..... sure make it easy !

The front swap bar brackets (if I remember are the original ones that came on the Shelby)

BMR and Kelly are great and I am glad he made you one ! Love to see photos of your front suspension with that installed, I may think about removing the plate on mine

I had issues with my new A-arms and my Wilwood brakes and he was nothing but helpful..

What brake ducts are you running?

I have the Shelby/Baer brakes on mine and I ran into the same problem with brake cooling.

I bought the "early version" of the FRPP kit and found out it will not work with the big rotors because they are closer to the inside and rub the backing plates.

I bought the "later (Boss 302) version" and with just a *little* work, they fit. All you have to do is grind a little off of each of the 3 stand-offs and they go right on.

EDIT: I used a valve guide cutting tool in my drill press in order to cut each stand-off flush. It was hit & miss...Cut a little off, test fit it. Cut a little more off, test fit it (until it cleared the rotor). I'm guessing (trying to remember) about 1/8"-1/4" off of each one.

But then the problem is the hose is bigger than the spigots on the back side of the grille. No problem, I bought a length of clear plastic hose that fits over the spigot and inside of the larger brake cooling hose.

I cut my grille and use the Shelby/KR brake duct bezels...You know, the ones everyone says won't work? Yeah, those ones. I have them on my car with the FRPP Boss 302 brake cooling kits, both that everyone says won't work.

There's more than one way to skin a cat!

I guess I could cut a wedge out of the hose on the end fitting over the spigots and then clamp it down to fit... think that would work?

That's pretty much what I did. It wasn't a fit/fit situation. I had to cut a slit in the hose then cut a small section out of another and add it to make a bigger diameter.
