TNTchris
Hey Board, Has anyone changed their lights for the gauge pod to led colored lights? The different colors in the lights drives me nuts? Please let me know where I can find the lights and maybe help with some install instructions? Thanks TNTChris
2008GT-C
Chris- LED replacement bulbs can be found on the Autometer web site. They only sell the basic four colors red, green, yellow and blue. I purchased mine on Ebay at a much cheaper price. The bulbs are are easy to swap out. They are held in with a twist lock style socket. Use caution the sockets are weak and it's easy to break off a tab. If you search for bulbs using the sockets 161, 193, 194 & 168 wedge style. They might make more colors now then when I bought mine. I also was not a fan of the bulbs with the colored condoms on them. Good luck and I hope this helps. -Kevin

Jer
I originally tried the rubber "booties" on the factory bulbs, and Blue looked like Weak Aqua. The LEDs are more $, but worth the difference. Jer

07SGT4743
Jer, What color led's did you go with? Does the color match any of the My Color options? I tried the booties, but found the blue too dark, red too pink and the green just not a good match for the existing gauges. Jer
Jer, What color led's did you go with? Does the color match any of the My Color options? I tried the booties, but found the blue too dark, red too pink and the green just not a good match for the existing gauges. I used blue. I have the MyColor set to pure blue, and it matches exactly. Now if I could only get the green stuff in the dash to be blue.... LOL Jer

HARALD KELLEY
Sounds like a cool mod as I also use the blue so the dash pod would look cool instead of the white light.
TNTchris
I ordered these from Summit Racing this evening; Auto Meter 3296 - Auto Meter Replacement Light Bulbs http://www.summitracing.com/parts/atm-3296 I will try to get some pics after they are installed! Elgin Black
I just ordered some blue bulbs from Summit. My question is do you actually twist the bulb to remove and install or just pull. The last thing I want to do is break something. 07SGT4743
I ordered these from Summit Racing this evening; Auto Meter 3296 - Auto Meter Replacement Light Bulbs http://www.summitrac.../parts/atm-3296 I will try to get some pics after they are installed! TNTChris Chris,Are you certain this is the right part number? Check out the Autometer site directly. P/N 3296 mentions that this is a replacement bulb for some tachometers. P/N 3286 mentions that it replaces bulb style 161, 193, 194 and 168 and from the picture, looks like it has the same base as the exising bulb. Elgin Black
I copied this from the Autometer site. It looks like the 3296 bulbs are correct. The Shelby guages are 2 5/8"." These replacement bulb and socket assemblies and individual replacement bulbs from Auto Meter are designed for 1 1/2 in. mini, 2 1/16 in., and 2 5/8 in. gauges. They can also be used in some speedometers and tachometers". Edited January 24, 2013 by slygray1

07SGT4578
FYI for you guys getting the LEDs. They are polarity sensitive. ( only work one way ). If you install them and they don't work, flip 180 degrees and reinstall. I said many cuss words when changing mine for this reason. Also be careful with the wire splices. If yours is like mine, not a lot of excess wire under there and connections are sketchy at best.
Elgin Black
So what bulb part # did you use?
07SGT5011
Well they fit into the socket somewhat. The led is smaller than the bulb. I tried rotating 180 degrees but no luck. I used part #3294 which is for a red led. Seems like the wires coming out of the led are not makeing connection with the socket they go into. Did i get the wrong led's? 07SGT5011
Looks like I ordered the wrong ones. Should have ordered. 3284 = RED 3285 = GREEN 3286 = Blue 3287 = yellow
Elgin Black
So did I. I ordered #3296. Guess they should have been #3286. Guess I can send them back and try again.
