JOHNNYD
An insurer has hired me to evaluate an 08 GT500 that was involved in a heavy collision . The two parties ( insured and insurer ) have come to an agreement on the value of the vehicle hower the gentlemen that owns the vehicle feels that he should be paid a premium on top of that value for the signature and the supporting documentation since its no longer possible to aquire these for obvious reasons .Does he have a point ? and if so how much is that worth ? Thanks, Michael

JOHNNYD
Can't the dash panel be removed? It can however it comes with documentation attached to the VIN . If he wanted to put it on his replacement the serial numbers would not match .
speedrx
I don't think it adds a lot of value, Shelby signed a lot of things and his signature is not that rare, I would estimate around $300-$400, less than $500. Maybe one day it will bring more money but you have to go on PV.
FiaCobra
He made the mistake of not popping that off before the insurance company bought the car. I would say $100 on the signature. Lets face it, it's tied to a destroyed VIN and can't be used again.
Jer
This depends on whether we are talking about a signed DASH PLAQUE with a VIN number on it, or a signed AIRBAG COVER (the "glove compartment area") , which has no relationship to any VIN and can be removed. VERY different circumstances. Michael, feel free to contact me at JerG@ShelbyAmerican.com for help and clarity. I'll give you all the help you need. I requested my csm on my air bag cover when i had Carroll sign mine but it was returned with only the signature. I'm glad now that my number wasn't added as i can use my airbag cover on another car if i wrecked this one as long it is not a head-on collision. I also agree that these signatures are not rare as there were thousands of parts signed by Carroll. If you are paid the 250.00 paid for the signature then you will be lucky. GOOD-LUCK. shelbymotorsports
Sounds like the OP is referring to an autographed GT500 dash plaque from SPP. I don't see the insurance adjuster agreeing to anything above the purchase price of $350 for the plaque. Personally if it was me I would want to keep the plaque as a souvenir of my Shelby ownership.
