The favorite albums I have for riding in my '68 GT500KR are the Beach Boys "Endless Summer", the Cream "Disraeli Gears", and the Rolling Stones "High Tides and Green Grass", all 8-track tapes played on my original AM/8-track player :happy feet:

Guess when I get my 2013 GT350, I will need some new tunes???? :hysterical:

far-out! some one remembers the Cream !!

It most certainly depends on my mood. When I'm feeling nostalgic I'll put on the American Graffiti soundtrack.

When I'm in a raucous mood, most anything from Reverend Horton Heat or Brian Setzer.

Then, when I want some real country (not that Nashville crap) I'll crank out some Cash, Hank I/III, Waylon or Dale Watson.

Horton Heats version of Cash song "Get Rythum" and also like "Galaxie 500"

ZZ Top eliminator CD on ride to work ( call me crazy but "TV Dinner" the best)

John Fogerty while cruising Interstate "Hot Rod Heart" Great lyrics for road trip

Nirvana to sing along when riding alone.

Queen to make passengers happy.

Guns and Roses "Child of Mine" and Metalica's "Enter Sandman" once a year just to bring back that era

Black eyed Peas 'Going to be a good night" or current top 40 when Grand Kids are in the car..

Creedance Clearwater Revival most of the time.

Love this thread! On my iPod's "Shelby Shaker Hi's & Lo's" Menu:

How It Starts/The Features (You might remember this from last year's boulevard "morphing" Mustang commercial--ends up turning into a GT500)

New York Groove/Ace Frehley

Turbo Lover/Judas Priest

Hey Pretty/Poe (Trust me--EPIC driving song)

Satisfaction Guaranteed/The Firm (On a Shaker 1000--SICK Highs & Lows)

Uh! All Night/KISS

Free-For-All/Terrible Ted (Nugent)

Steve McQueen/Sheryl Crow

Jessica/Allman Brothers

For total album experience: Frampton Comes Alive!

Lots of good stuff here. Definitely can't beat the Blues. Got a whole Blues Genre setting on my Zune. something like 800 songs: SRV, Clapton, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Albert King, BB King, Jimmy Dawkins, Junior Wells, Albert King, Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker...

Then there's my swing collection: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Brian Setzer...

My new favorite though is Zeppelin: I'd been listening to my Zeppelin track when I had to take my boss to visit a site (he's Scottish). We're driving down a rural divided highway east of Fairbanks He happens to see "Led Zeppelin" on my Sync screen (I had the volume turned down). He says "you like Zeppelin?" I said "yeah." He reaches over, grabs the volume knob, and cranks it to ear-bleed levels as the Immigrant Song hits the bridge, grinning from ear to ear-so I dropped it into third, nailed it and we ROCKED it down the highway! Gotta love bosses like that!

I just recorded the CD onto my car's Audio disc. Do I remember jamming down the highway, 8-track blaring in my VW camper? Ayuh. Cream, Bob Dylan, and Bill Cosby kept me grinning and alert on too many race weekends to count.

I have always loved the Doors. For years I used "Riders on the Storm" to test out sterios in both cars and at home. If it couldn't handle the "detail" in this song...I wouldn't buy it.

My all time fav however is "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf. You cant beat sitting behind the wheel of the SSnake...a warm summer breeze...the love of your life at your side...and someone wails..."Get your motor running"

I'm also VERY partial to "Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochrane.
