gt500 insurance

I'ld have to check specifically what the Shelbys coverage amount to but for our 2007 Shelby GT, 2009 GT500, 2011 Explorer, 2011 Flex, and a popup camper, the monthly bill for full coverage is $146 with Liberty Mutual. We had been with Safeco but checked with Liberty Mutual because our credit union indicated Liberty Mutual had a discount for their members. The switch cut our both our auto and home insurnace in half. Now there is more to add new goodies to the Shelbys. :happy feet:

hubby is 64 and I am 61-no tickets or accidents on our record. We got a letter from the ins company that said we were getting a preferred discount because of good records and don't remember the terminology they used but it basically meant because we are old! The 12 GT 500 is still $100/month for 6 months of driving. We got quite the kick out of that one.

I just got my invoice from American National, their "Chrome" policy

I have four cars with them, '68 KR, '08KR, '06GTH, '12 Boss302, best coverage available with full value, and liberal driving allowances, for 6 months it is $1119 for all four cars.

Values on cars is 135k for the '68, 60k for the '08, 35k for the '06, and 40k for the '12

Is that the company that is called "Chrome" or am I perhaps confusing the type of policy with the company name?

I've seen "Chrome" (ins. co.?) at just about every car show I've been to and have considered them. When I wrote asking about getting my GT500 insured, he wanted VIN's from ALL of my vehicles and my wife's Dr. Lic. #.

My wife doesn't (CAN'T) drive my GT500 and i don't want ALL of my cars insured with them. I have Geico on all of my cars (including my GT500) and I'm fine with them. I just want a "collector car" (type) of company insuring my GT500 for the full amount.

I have 6 vehicles. I have 2 teenage drivers in the house.

The shelby is $100 a month for full coverage.

i also have usaa. i may need to call and talk to them. my ins. is way too high imo.

heres how it breaks down

1995 f350 $289.62

2013 optima sx-l $470.59

2009 GT-500 632.45

thats every 6 months. i know im younger (30) but the wife and i have NO wrecks ever, no tickets in the last 8 years.

anyone know if i can get like a suspended coverage on the car? i dont think its moved out of the garage in 2 months, and with the winter months, other than friday i dont plan on driving her until spring unless my truck craps the bed

I spoke to my agent/friend about this. I own my car outright so I can drop the insurance completely for the winter storage months if I so choose. I have always kept full coverage year round on it but thought about starting to drop it during winter.

She made a good point; She suggested I keep comp on it. I told her it sits in my garage so I'm not at all worried about it getting damaged while sitting. She explained that when I go to re-insure it, I won't get a "continuously insured" rate because I will be uninsured for 5 or 6 months.

So I'll keep one item (comp, PL, PD, etc.) on the car so it will be 'insured' but I will find the least expensive of them to carry. The State of CO mandates I have my car insured to drive on the roads but unlike CA (where your Ins. Co. will report you to DMV) I don't have to carry PL/PD if I'm not driving the car on the road...But I DO have to maintain CO registration (unlike CA where I can get a "non-op" status).

Check with your Ins. Company to see if being uninsured for any length of time will cost you money.
