Question about clutch for 13 owners

I don't remember if my clutch pedal made this noise before or not but can someone with a 13 just next time they are in their car before they turn it on (since it will make it easier to hear) just push the pedal down all the way a couple times and tell me if you hear a very faint click sound towards the bottom 3rd of the travel.

Also can someone when driving in 1st at around 1mph maybe even 2 push your clutch all the way in and tell me if you hear a clunk or not.

Only people who have a stock car do the 2nd part please.

Thanks very much to anyone who helps.

Good lord.............don't you know what a neutral safety switch is? This is a normal sound and is the micro-switch that keeps people from starting the car in gear without depressing the clutch first. If you don't push the clutch in, the micro-switch doesn't allow the starter to engage to turn the engine over.

Again....first manual car ever owned. So no I did not know about a neutral safety switch. Hence why I asked if it was normal because I didn't remember hearing the click. But since that is a normal established noise now I'm wondering if anyone else hears a clunk from their rear when they push the clutch all the way in at 1-2 mph.

I hope you think twice about starting any manual shift car. The reason I say this is if you ever reach in an old car with a stick, it could be in gear when you hit the key. All tractor trailers and large trucks built today don't have them either..........always sit you arse in the seat and push the clutch in before twisting the key. Otherwise the car or truck could run off and kill someone Edited by Mr. Haney

For anyone with a 13 try getting in the vehicle and inserting and turning the ignition key clockwise - first I get this electric motor whirring sound and this roaring and rumbling sound from the back of the car - does anyone else experience this? It goes away if I rotate the key counterclockwise.

I run into this several times but found that if you pack the tail pipes with several fresh bananas that the NVH drops dramatically or put it into neutral , push the pedal on the right to the floor and hold it until all the noises go away(this may take a couple of minutes - but do not let up until you can hear the silence) Hey - hey - JMO

LMAO! Yes mine does this too. Very annoying! The thing is mine wont go anywhere without this obnoxious sound. So I just have to sit in it to enjoy piece and quiet.

Up here in Illinoiz - we use patatas - however I did hear about the banana in the tailpipe trick - pretty sneaky.

I just sit I'm mine and make fake motor noises - vrooom vroooom - but the noises I make - both posterior and anterior - are not as good as the Shelby - but I keep practicing.

does anybody with a '13 notice that as you drive, the fuel level needle starts to move towards the letter "E" on the gauge. It's weird because sometimes depending on how i drive, it takes longer or shorter times to get near that "E". does anybody else have this problem? I ask because this is the first car i owned with a "E" to "F" gauge in it. thanks for all who can help on this one.

What is he 12? First owned maybe, but first driven also? N safety switch? come on, this guys a clown

The only other manual I've ever driven was a 2004 acura RSX that I drove for 1 hour and a 2012 gt that the dealership let me drive around in for 30 minutes. Wasn't really paying attention or caring to any sounds or noises that the car made. I never brought up the safety switch thing you are commenting on so I'm not sure why you are commenting on it.

Maybe its again to run your troll stalking mouth since you are completely obsessed with me?

I am glad everyone else gets a riot though out of a single question. Thought thats what this forum was for was to learn new things. But clearly its maybe only for 50+ year olds with nothing better to do than insult someone half their age just because they didn't grow up in the stone age? Excuse me for not knowing any better about manual car operation, shame on me. Who do I think I am to ask you fine knowledgable folk absolutely anything

svt13 = April 24,2012 through November 24,2012 ( 7 months ) with 2,260 posts . Posting diarrhea is not the only problem here . Enough said

Majority of my posts are from arguing with the same 4 people over and over again who can't seem to leave it alone.

2nd why do you even care about something as stupid as the number of posts I make?

EDIT: the other majority comes from replying to stupid comments.

Then maybe you should stay away from the keyboard and pick up a book ( maybe start with your owners manual ).

not over 50, 38 actually. obsessed with you, no. entertained by your lack of any knowledge of anything automotive and owning a super car, yes. You are right about one thing, a forum is a place to post about the topics, ask questions, and tell experiences. you sir, ask silly questions, want opinions on topics that are purely subjective, and when anybody hints to anything you don't want to hear, you get defensive. Then you pm everybody, ask the same things over and over, and on at least one occasion you let pricing out of the bag when it was told to you in confidence. you then refer to ford as lazy for having an open grill, and suggest that parts for this car were just thrown together. well done for being so much younger than us all, but as stated, read the owners manual that came with the car!!!

The ZR-1 owners manual was in the glove box of the RSX - doesn't that count ? ( I guess not because it was never opened ) As in the case of a 2013 Shelby GT500 , you all know that an original owners manual is worth more if you don't take it out of the plastic wrap. But it should be removed from the glove box to save weight and some may cause excessive NVH if left inside bouncing around . JMO Edited by Albino500

I think you are confusing ZR1 with Zl1. I have driven in a ZR1 as in being the passenger. And I have myself driven a Zl1 and it was an auto.

I didn't know questions about the mechanics of the car is a silly question. Nor am I getting defensive with you. I just find it sad that you look for every thread I post in to make some idiotic comment. I don't really PM anybody so I don't know what you are talking about. Maybe the only person recently was patrickshelby to let him know about some alcoas being sold separetely on ebay but again how is that any of your concern is beyond me. And I still think ford is lazy for the open grill. It's a mass produced car there are lots of parts of it that were done in a lazy fashion because its cheaper that way. You need to just accept that. Ford doesn't give 2 sh*ts about you they care about making money not making you happy. I have read the owners manual, no mention of clicking sounds from the clutch though in there. And one person told me not to talk about the pricing they gave me and I didn't. I talked about the other pricing I was told by someone else who didn't care if I talked about it or not. Lol it's not my fault then the other person came out and said they told me a different price because someone else told me something different.

Plus it's not like the pricing was a top secret thing really.....it's not that hard to call SPP and ask them how much the wide body kit costs. Not much rocket science or detective work invovled there.

Lol knew I would somehow get dragged into this by you dave. Honestly I think you just are bothered by the fact that guys in their 20s do infact own nice cars believe it or not perhaps even the same nice car as you! Get off your high horse and stop bashing, seriously wtf are you on here for anyways? You are really mature let me tell you. I hope this brings you as much satisfaction as the Shelby brings me. I hope saying those sly cunning remarks makes you sleep better at night. Happy Thanksgiving to you to.

Ps check the ip addresses, you'll be just as wrong about that as you were about me getting a Shelby. ;)
