2013 GT500 Dealer Promotional Video DVD

Anybody who hasn't seen the 2013 GT500 Promotional DVD Ford produced for dealers ought to seek it out - and perhaps even ask if you can burn a copy for yourself.

Many dealers are only recently receiving the DVD, just in time for the end of the model year. It's meant to be played in a waiting area or on a product information kiosk and contains two versions each of four video segments each hosted by the lead SVT engineer responsible for a particular system (i.e. suspension, cooling, powertrain, etc) as he explains the systems, the components used, and changes from previous model years to accommodate the additional horsepower, torque and speed.

Each has a display table with all of the systems' components laid-out as they go through and explain in detail the changes made to facilitate the improved performance while maintaining durability. Some parts can be a little dry - these are engineers not spokesmodels. But they do a phenomenal job of explaining the kinds of things it'd normally take months of hunting and pecking and calls to SVT to find out - if they happen to know the answer and are actually willing to divulge it.

It was very insightful and I'd wager even the best-informed people about their cars from a technical perspective would appreciate learning a lot that's simply not covered in the order guide or product brochure and doesn't appear in a shop manual that'd be impossible to learn until you actually tore apart your engine, intercooler, suspension, whatever.

A lot of 'em wind-up in wastebaskets right away, but a few lucky folks might find their dealers still have them - and even may perhaps conveniently turn a blind eye as you make a copy or even take it home with you. :speedie:

A definite "thumbs up".

And no, goddamn it. There's no section discussing NVH. :banghead:

Madlock,

Thanks for the heads up on the DVD.

After doing some intensive research1 on the DVD, I was able to confirm your statement concerning the lack of any mention of NVH in the video, but NV was reported during the watching of the video, there was no H reported. NV levels seem to be directly related to volume level, room size and listener sensitive. I think this alone warrants the starting of another thread.

1 I talked to a homeless man (George), who lives in a dumpster behind the local Ford dealer, and he verified the above information. He was extremely unhappy about the effect it had on his dog (Homer). He said there were parts of the video that drove his dog insane. So if you are sensitive to N or V or have a mangy old dog, you have been warned.

...I have nothing but gratitude for the very pertinent information on the N+V+H or any combo of the same. Man I was worried. :hysterical:

Just talked to my dealer - they only got 2 allocations for GT500's this year and mine is #2. Car was built Oct.22. As of yesterday it was logged in as on a train in Mineola Texas. Hopefully will make it Mesquite today and get on a truck to West Texas before the week is over!

Anyway, I asked my sales manager about the DVD. They called back and said yup we have it and it's yours if you want it. Going to pick it up this afernoon.

I have the promo poster for my 2008 matted and on the wall in my office. Funny thing it is blue with white stripes. My 08 is white with blue stripes, but my new one will be blue with white stripes. Think i'll ask about a poster.

Coolest thing was i went to the Dallas Cowbooys home game a few weeks ago and in the pro shop they have a t-shirt for sale that has a 2013 Shelby GT500 and a snake logo and COWBOYS lettering down the side. Also blue, with white stripes. Might wear it when i go pick my car up.

Doctorjay, that is way cool! I am in Dallas this week on business, I might see if I can find a local proshop and get one...I wonder if they are only sold at the stadium?

So my dealer rocks. Found a little box on the front step this evening. Here is what was in it.

My dealer similarly rocks, giving me his 2013 promotional materials (i.e., posters, information cards, dealer calendar, and the DVD) when I took delivery of my car last Friday. Since mine was their only allocation for the MY, they had ALL of the materials they received from Ford in the trunk of my car when I drove it off the showroom floor.

Great idea.

Just be sure to give a heads up when you've worked out all of the potential copyright ramifications and are ready to start sending them out.

Because they are selling them right? If they were we'd all buy them, but they aren't so we aren't infringing on any profits, I guess the worse would be a cease and desist ......For advertising for Ford....Yeah that is a good idea. I think they ultimately wouldn't care about it. I could be stupid opn this though. A million scenarios can be assumed, but you won't know until you roll the dice....
