kenmath23
I am looking to get some new tires, and I know very little about tires. I was looking at goodyear supercars, michelin pilot supercars and Nitto NT555. My question is, I hear alot of guys running the Nittos, and the price of them seem much cheaper than the other two, is this a case of you get what you pay for or are the Nittos the best option for the money. I don't track race, I am a aggressive street driver who enjoys burnouts, so I am think the Nittos are good for me. What do you guys think?
Red-GT500
I went through the same choice about 3 months ago. My goodyears were toast and i needed a new set but didnt want to deal with not being able to rotate the tires because of the goodyear design. I almost got the Nitto's because of the price but they dont have the exact sizes of the stock SVTPP wheels. The Pilot Super Sports have a much longer warranty so i went that direction. The performance is way above the goodyears. They take a little getting use to because they have better traction. If you want the best its worth the price. They will last longer and giver and overall increase in control. Edit: BTW, i got a full set for just under 1400 installed. Not cheap but better than some of the advertised prices for the sizes i wanted. Shop around and even buy the fronts and rears from different places if you have to. YZD263
Another tire that you could add to your shopping list is the Continental Extreme Contact DW. It's offered in the same sizes as the OEM Goodyears. I replaced my OEM Goodyears whith them on my '07 GT500 last spring. While I can't speak about long term durability (I sold the car since), the were better in every respect when compared to the OEM Goodyears. Having said that, you can't go wrong with the Michelins. TexasShelby
I pulled the Goodyear's off my 07 at 2k and replaced them with 20" Nitto INVOs. They were pretty good, not great traction. I just replaced them with Nitto NT05s and am very happy, and about 30% more traction than the INVOs and 50% more than the Goodyears.
