Thinking about removing the front splitter

Ok the new splitter looks cool and all but it is turning out to be a real pain in the ass. It scrapes on everything- curb stops, deep driveways, speed bumps etc. I don't ever see myself going 200mph so I'm probably going to take it off. It will be in the garage if I ever get the urge to put it back on.

I have mine on.

Have to hit my driveway just right to get it up the slope.

I have scraped it a few times. Going to order a back up in case the original gets really chewed up.

For now, a little sand paper takes the rough edge down if I do scrape it.

Kinda surprised, but I haven't had a problem with mine (other than curb stop, once... the nose on this thing is a lot farther out than it feels like). My SN95 scrapes, but haven't had a problem with this one. Mine was on when I picked it up, and I've left it on.

Alaska's not the best place in the world for cars with low clearance...

I measured my 08 and the clearance is almost the same - about 5.25" on both the 08 and the 13 with splitter. Cutting the wheel to 45 degrees seems to do the trick, and I haven't had a problem in either car. I did mess up the bottom piece on the 08 and had to replace it, but that was because I crunched it on one of those cement parking things - not because of clearance specifically. Just go slow over humps and take driveways at a good angle, and you should be fine.

I just put mine on today. Although I don't see myself going 200, I do think it will provide more downforce and stability for those occasional trips into 3 digit speeds. So far no issues with scraping and if palace's measurements are right, I don't think I will.

Haven't put mine on because, unless I happen to be chasing 200, it's additional weight and something prone to damage. I left mine in its original box and bought a replacement from the parts desk to have on-hand for whenever attaching it would prove beneficial.

For the collectors out there, it's also important to remember that only the original part comes in the brown dunnage box from the plant. The replacement part comes in standard parts packaging which is entirely different. Whether or not people actually attach the original splitter extension, it may behoove the folks who save every sticker and scrap of paper to at least save the original box or at most use a proxy bought from the parts desk.

I'm using my orig splitter to train me as to where I can drive without scrapping. It has scrapped at about the same places as my C6 Vette, and I had to remove the center piece of that splitter along with $1k to replace the radiator support that breaks if the front hits very hard!

My '13 GT500 dealer put a small scrape on my splitter before I bought it, so I had him furnish me one NIB to be my single redundancy. $100 for a new one is worth having a spare for show if u keep ur OEM one on just in case u want to approach light speed!
