New fogs and HID's

Nice.

I previously went the 6K/6K route, but found the 5K V-Led fog lamps to be close enough to the OE HIDs to achieve the same effect without needing to go so far toward the blue end of the spectrum.

Madlock, where did you get the 5K V-led lamps from??

Is it just a bulb swap?

Thanks

Yea bergenfelt why did you get those? I could have pointed you to the 5k LED ones that match with our stock head lights. The 5k ones are from V-LEDs you also need an adapter for them from another company I have to look for it later on monday when I have time to make them plug and play.

Aftermarket HIDs aren't as good as factory

Guess I like the color of the light. If I get tired of it - less than 30 mins back to stock. The color is not all that blue IMHO.

From V-LED. They're the 5W which are direct bulb swaps. The 7.5W are a tad brighter but splice into the line so I avoided them.

NO adapter is required.

You need an adapter. The person from SVTP who did them said he needed an adapter or he would have had to splice into the line. He spliced into the adapter and then they became plug and play.

Well shit. Then I've got a pair of GT500's with plug and play 5W fog lamp LED's that SHOULDN'T be working but are - which I attribute to having bought the 7.5's not wanting to slice them, and exchanging them at the direction of V-LED for units that indeed plugged AND played on BOTH my '12 and '13.

Post the link. We clearly aren't talking about the same bulbs since I know they have 2 different 5k ones.

You guys are blind lolhttp://www.v-leds.com/5K-WHITE-28-LED-13W-DRLFOG-p9619283-1-2.html

They are on sale now even so I will be buying them now. There is a 13 watt and 7.5 watt. I think madlock has the 7.5 watt which is not as high output as the 13.

"You guys" are blind? Good Christ. You were demanding links yourself just a little while ago.

I can't find it either.

Madlock, can you help.

Thanks

Sure. Here's the link. The vendor's SKU is 5202_15_HP_W_5K. The bulbs I returned because they required splicing are here. For their nominal amount of additional light considering how relatively useless fog lamps tend to be beyond styling anyway, I simply wasn't going to do anything that wasn't 100% reversible in all respects.

I think this threw everyone a curve ball. Everyone was looking for 5w bulbs.

Thanks for the link Madlock.

Snoopy, thanks for addressing the confusion. That is EXACTLY what threw me off, and I am sure it did the same to Devious.

SVT13, I did see both bulbs, so I am not blind. If you knew what Madlock was talking about then you shouldn't have been asking for the link either.

Last time I looked, this site is and has always been a great source of information. No reason to get all huffy because someone asks for a link or part number.

It is. Sorry was not trying to get "all huffy". Tomorrow I'll post the link to the adapter for the 13 watt bulb to make it plug and play. It's on my work computer and I don't remember the company that sells them. They are super cheap though like 5 bucks.

And the 13 aren't a little bit brighter they are 2x brighter. 200 lumens compared to 400 there is adapter to make it plug and play

Notwithstanding my inadvertently misstating 5 and 7.5 rather than 7.5 and 13, your'e going to notice precious little additional light in terms of useful additional light, unless somebody happens to be using them as DRL's since HID output is in the 3,000 lumen range.

I am comparing between the 2 LED bulbs. The 13 watt is twice as bright. But the stock halogen are 2x as bright as the 13 watt bulbs so yea. But even though the LEDs aren't as bright what they light up is the same. Someone already did a very good comparaison with pictures so really you can't tell the difference AT ALL. Unless you only have the fogs on and no headlights but Idk who drives around with just fogs on.

So, apart from being the cheapest and easiest solution, why the kerfuffle about any/everything else?
